I'm totally new to using this so be gentle, here's my problem.

I'm trying to use "Append "Explicit" to Comment field if Lyrics contains some explicit word" pre-set but I cant get it to work.

No matter what I put in the "Find what" line I do not get anything changing, any help would be appreciated.

Update
If I go Edit/ Tag manipulation presets and select "Append "Explicit" to Comment field if Lyrics contains some explicit word" and enter the bad word in the box the preset gives me the expected result but if I go edit/ regexp find and replace and select the preset, I get nothing happening.

I am on win8.1 and using the latest beta version of MM

I get just the opposite. If I go in first and set it up with the words I want and then after choose Edit > RegExp, the dialog pops up and is ready to go
and works. If I choose Edit > Tag Manipulation and choose the preset, the only thing the list does is disappear. When I open properties for the file to
check results, it did not append Explicit to Comment field.
When I go back into RegExp to see if my settings are all still there, they are.

I just checked the mentioned "Append "Explicit" to Comment field" preset and it is correctly updating the Comment field both from the Tag Manipulation or from the RegExp Find & Replace dialog box if the Lyric contains the specified word.

If you want to add the new explicit words to the preset using the RegExp Find & Replace dialog box, you should do it customizing the Value key in the Replace with string, i.e. you should not modify the Find what string of that preset.

If you want to get displayed dialog box which allows customization of the related preset after you choose its toolbar button or the Edit/Tag Manipulation menu you need to have turned on the "Show dialog box for adjusting of the preset selected in the menu or toolbar" option in the Options dialog box.

After you do some modification using the Tag Manipulation dialog box, such modification will update the related preset as well. If you still believe that the related preset is not updated you should check the preset number on the left of the Preset combo box in the RegExp Find & Replace dialog box; if it displaying 0/xxx - that means it is the new (working) preset.

Thank you for the explanation, it was user error on my part, I was expecting to enter values in the Find What field. It does indeed do what it says on the tin, as we say here.

Using preset in RegExp Find and Replace

Post by terrypin »

For my selected tracks I want to replace the various names under Album Artist by 'Various Artists'. As shown here

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/401 ... ace-01.jpg

the steps I took were as follows:

1. Selected multiple tracks.
2. Opened the script's dialog window
3. Chose 'Album Artist' from the 'Into' box.
(Although I'm unclear whether that's necessary. Shouldn't the preset do that? Nor am I really sure about the labels. What is going Into what? Ditto From?)
4. Chose the preset shown.
5. But that immediately gave the warning shown, which I don't know how to interpret? AFAIK I haven't done anything to change any preset! What is preset 0 anyway?

And I got the same error regardless of which preset I chose.

I used this script earlier for a simple text replacement, not using a preset.

Forum rules, you need to post in the existing thread. Especially so with Addons so its author can reply.

You will get the "0" preset if you e.g. select some existing preset, modify something in it, close the RegExp Find & Replace dialog box and enter it again. That means that the "0" preset is showing your latest working preset, but not some already saved one.

From your screenshot I could suppose that you have selected "Assign "Various Artists" to the Album Artist field" preset, but you changed Into field from the Album Artist to the Album, and reopened the dialog box.

Message to all: please read the first post of this thread, it has the very detailed instructions how to use this add-on, e.g. what is represented by the Into and From combo boxes.

OK thanks, understood.

Thanks also for the prompt reply I had from rivorson, which I'll paste here for continuity:
It's just warning you that you will lose the settings that you have entered by selecting a different preset. There is no preset 0 but the message is designed for when you have changed an not saved a preset. It must say preset 0 if you haven't modified a saved preset because it doesn't have another message to display in this circumstance.

And also for the similar explanation by ZvezdanD.

After my post I went ahead anyway and clicked Continue after that message, which got me the result I wanted.

--------------------

Shortly afterwards I had a crash, which I may as well describe here. In a spirit of experiment I decided to discover the function of Keep Matched. After clicking it I got this message:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/401 ... ash-01.jpg

That was followed by another message saying that it had occurred during the execution of the script. At first sight it also seemed my library had been deleted, but happily a refresh re-displayed it.

Is there some way to get the drop-down list of presets sorted alphabetically please?

The presets could be sorted alphabetically if you click on the header of the table in the RegExp Export/Import dialog box, but that operation is irreversible and cannot be undone, so it is recommended that you make a backup of presets at first.

Thanks, that fixed it.

Just curious: wouldn't that be the preferred default?

No, I tried to sort them by similarity and their purpose, e.g. all track number related presets are one after another even if their names start with different character(s).
