I'm having a problem with podcasts. When the plugin syncs new podcasts with itunes, they show up in my itunes music library and not my itunes podcast library. I have to go in an manually set the tracks "Media Kind" as podcast before itunes adds the tracks to the podcast library. Is this something the plugin can do for me?

Thanks again/
I'm having this exact same problem. Any foreseeable fix for this?

You going to have to help me here ... what is meant by "manually" and "Media Kind". Is this in MM or iTunes?

As a work around ... all podcasts appear with genre="Podcast". If you create a smart playlist which has Genre equals Podcast and set this to sync to your iPhone you can then filter these tracks.

New version http://www.mediafire.com/file/n1nyw3gmuqy/d_iTunes.dll

No big changes in this version but I've upgraded to iOS4 on my iPhone 3G and have been a bit distracted! :D :D :D

Podcasts have been looked at but I can't find a way to make iTunes add podcasts to it's list that it hasn't downloaded itself. It was quite interesting - I might do a bit more of this now. :D

27/6/2010
* Tag attributes updated at post track loading (assumed iTunes read from file)
* Tag attributes read from MM database rather than disk file (getSongDataByID revertion)
* iTunes Year parameter (integer) assigned from MM Year parameter (Tdate)
28/6/2010
* Memory leaks fixed when Playlist noCreate option is used
* Additional Config.WriteIni() removed at shutdown as it overwrites recent changes (diego)
* zzz playlists pre-creation reinstated
29/6/2010
* getSongDataByID() uses built in MM function QuerySongs() (is is faster?)
30/6/010
* Switched to iOS4 on my iPhone 3G
1/7/2010
* Additional exception traps in FileCopy() CreateFolderInFolder() and CreatePlaylistInFolder()
* Looked at iTunes podcast additions but code backed out

I've just accidentally dicscovered that iOS4 supports folders for it's playlists (I've not seen that publicised anywhere). Some of the larger ipods already supported folders so the plugin already caters for this. :D

If you want to make use of this feature change the Device configuration's "Playlist folders" setting to "Build Folders". And delete the original folders that exist in iTunes. Next time that you sync MM<->iTunes the folders and playlists will be rebuilt in iTunes and then iTunes<->iPhone they will appear in your iPhone/iTouch.

Hard to explain succinctly, so hopefuly this screen shot tell you what you need to know.

Hopefully itunes makes this property available through the COM interface.

Thanks again for all your work. Do you have a way I can can donate to the continue development of the plugin?

One inside information ;)

In MediaMonkey 4 user should be able to have same customizable Media Type property like you showed in screenshot, currently it is hard-coded.

Hello - I'm trying to sync my MM (v3.2.1) Playlists to Itunes 9.2 to be able to sync back to my iPhone with iOS4.

I configured the current version of device plugin, read the operation notes and started syncing. MM is trying to determine what to sync, the process start and reaches 100% in an instant. But the itunes music library stays as empty as before.

Does anyone have an idea what am I missing? Where did it go wrong?

thank you! :)

If you right click "iTunes" at the left and select "Device Configuration" and then "Auto-Sync List," do you have any Music, Playlists, Audiobooks or Podcasts selected to be sync'd?

Despite a lot of trying this doesn't seem possible to insert podcasts with the currently COM model exposed in iTunes.

There does seem to be a fix lurking around this however ... http://markbowers.org/home/itunes-podcast-fix

Code: Select all

This method seems to work very well! After doing this, the file gets added to the "Podcasts" section AND shows up under the correct podcast heading. (And all without messing around with XML and hosts files.)

In addition to:
ITUNESPODCAST
ITUNESPODCASTDESC
ITUNESPODCASTID
ITUNESPODCASTURL

One must also add:
RELEASETIME

With an example value:
2008-03-07T17:30:00Z

To get the podcast to show in the chronologically correct spot.

So .. I need to be able to write ID3v2 extended flags to the mp3 file before adding to iTunes. Even MM doesn't deal with extended tag entries. Does anyone know of Delphi library to do this?

Is it possible to get all playlists from MediaMonkey in the root of the playlists in the iOS4 iPod App and not under the root-Folder <MM>?

I simply want to access my playlists directly without the new tap to <MM>?

Right-click "iTunes" select "Configure Device," "Device Configuration" and then set "iTunes MM Folder Name" to be empty.

Did you disable the option to have MM run Itunes when you open it? I did and had the same results as you. After I reinstated the option to have MM open/close itunes, it seems to be working, properly. Also, as someone else stated, make sure you told the plugin what to sync.

To anyone else, I seem to have an issue when I use the option to let MM open/close itunes. I get an error from Vista (Data Execution Prevention). If I uncheck that option, the error goes away.

Do you get the exception at starting MM or closing MM?

Mark:

It's been a while since I used the plugin but I am attempting to start using it again in order to use iTunes on my laptop as a shared library. However, it seems every time I tell it to autosync it is removing everything from the iTunes library in order to re-add it. Is it possible for it to only add the new/changed tracks when syncing? I only want it to have to re-do the new/changed tracks not the entire library each time.

Hi Nyn

Only the changed tracks should be copied. Please check the clock sync between the two machines.
