I also want to search in discogs with "artist - title" for the master release or single cover.
So after your hint, I deleted album and albumartist. But discogs tagger don't use title for searching.
I would prefer to have an additional option for a default entry in "Load" and "Quick Search" to save it in "Save Options".
Any other advice to get the desired search-result?

Sorry for the long delay.
Please try "Advanced search" in the Discogs Tagger window. There you enter the title and the artistname. Then Discogs Tagger should find all releases from the artistname where the entered title is on the release.

searching by Master release

Post by Vladimir »

I can't seem to search by master release as described here in the help...
Once found just paste the release id or release url into search bar at the top and press search to directly load the release.
Search bar also accepts artist, label and master release urls, which might be useful.
I have tried searching with the url and variations of the release code eg:
[m250837]
m250837
250837

Most of the time I will get no results but if I search using the release code on it's own (bottom of the 3 options above) I will often get a result completely unrelated.

However I can get to the master release by searching for an "r" release code (eg. [r577839]) and then using the load combo box to switch load mode to master release.

Am I doing something wrong or am I not supposed to be able to search for a master release?

While on the subject, should I even be using master releases for tagging anyway? The only reason I do, is because I don't know which release to choose due to too many options so I just use the master. From what I have just read it sounds like the master is not even an actual release anway, rather just a "containing folder' on discogs for the various actual releases??

Hi Vladimir,

searching for master release only work with the whole discogs url e.g. https://www.discogs.com/master/12345
i just tried the master search. It doesn't work anymore, cause Discogs changed the urls. The add-on looks for /masters/ in the url, but Discogs now use /master/
I will fix the add-on in a few days.

From this 3 examples...

[m250837]
m250837
250837

..only the last work, but only with release numbers. If you paste a master number in the search bar, the add-on "think" it's a release number.

With the new version of the add-on i will expand the search function, to enter [m250837] or [a12345] for artist ... Thank you for the hint

The new version of the add-on will be available before New Year's Eve :D

I had the same thoughts. :) But the master of the release didn't have many informations about the release.

If you do it that way you will see that the master release has less informations about the release. The master release includes mostly only the song-names.
If you choose the master release or not depends on what you wanna have. More or less informations.

I want more information so i search now for the release with the same songs and with the most information for the release.

Discogs Tagger now search for title name if no album name in the mp3tag was found. :)

Discogs Batch Tagger 2.47 (Updated: 2017-06-25)

Post by Fusion55 »

HI, I have downloaded the Discogs Tagger 5.5.4 and there are 6 files included in the zip file, DiscogsAugoTagWeb.vmbs, DiscogsOptions.vbs, install.ini, install.vbs, Uninstall.ini and Uninstall.vbs. None of these are in the Mediamonkey installation file naming convention. I have tried executing the install.vbs file by double clicking on it from Windows Explorer, but get an error:

Script: E:\Temp\tmp\install.vbs,
line: 3,
char: 12,
error: Object required: 'SDB',
code: 800A01A8,
Source: Microsoft VBScript runtime error".

Can anybody tell me what I am supposed to do. I feel I must be missing something obvious because nobody else is even mentioning this, but it seems to be a dead end for me.

Thank you very much.

Re: Help installing Discogs add on

I may be wrong but if it has an install file inside then it should not be a zip file as such but a MMIP file so when you drag it onto the player of MM it should install or by going through the extentions section in the menu. have you renamed the zip file?, try changing it to a MMIP extention. I just downloaded the file from the Addons section and it comes as a MMIP file.

Is there a workaround for not being able to authenticate using internet explorer?

I'm using windows 10 and attempted to install IE11 as suggested by a previous user but haven't been successful.

OAuth Client Authentification Error

Post by bonjo »

Hi.
I'm a newbie to this addon, because the built-in 'Auto-Tag from Web' doesn't work (see here http://www.mediamonkey.com/broken-auto-tag.htm?l=en).
I entered the token and token secret in MM/Options/Discogs Tagger, fetching the tokens from my Discogs account respectively: 'Consumer Key' and 'Consumer Secret'.
Still I get these authetification errors: https://picload.org/image/ddoiidll/errors.png.

Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks for helping!

Hi,

you need Internet Explorer not only for authentication. The Discogs Tagger need it, too.
So did you successful install the IE?

No, it is not on my windows system and I have not been able to install it.
Reinstalling windows might work but I think I will wait to see if they manage to fix the Amazon tagger.

Thanks for the reply.
