It sounds like you need to register your dll.

a. Open command prompt by typing cmd.exe into start menu.
b. right-click on the command prompt shortcut and select "Run as administrator"
c. Input this command: regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\MediaMonkey\Scripts\XZip.dll" (note this will be different if you are on Win 64 bit)

Hopefully that solves your problem. But post back if it doesn't.
Good luck!

1st many thank's for this plugin/script. Its wonderful. And an excellent "Safety Belt", feels good.

The Backupping works fine regularly on my Vista mashine (Windows Home edition) and MM 3.2.0.1294 ... with generating MM.DB, *.ini and *.reg files, Script folder and exporting the M3U-playlists. It works great when I shut down the programme and at the end does a fine backup.

I installed same the XZip.dll. And activated it as descripted here with cmd.exe, regsvr32 and the command line... it was confirmed that the dll is registrated.

But no ZIP files as result... nothing ! - Hope for a tipp. Thank's for your support already now. SM2010.

Thanks, I'm glad you like the script. That's weird, do you get any errors?

I didn't get any error messages... I wondered, too. I have re-checked. And must admit, it was my mistake. I set a path for the ZIP using a disc which was exclusively setup for backupping, so no "rights to write". Sorry for the inconvenience :-?

I changed little bit the format configuration of the ZIP name. Maybe that's interesting for others, too (as I had to search a lot which code I should use. I am not a programmer or software specialist).

I have thought, that it is helpful, if you connect the zip name with a "time stamp" (Hour, Minute). Safety 1st ! - You have one benefit by that: the old zip file is not overwritten in the 2nd path, all elder Zip files are kept alive; it is only done in the 1st path keeping the latest 2. So you can use the 2nd external source (e.g. external hard disc for pure backupping) as real backupping function, while you can run the 1st path as "1st security level" in the regular mashine you use. Better some screenshots to undertand:

So it looks (I use FreeCommander instead of MS Explorer, a much better tool inclusive FTP feature) ...

These are my configs for the time stamps, see output archive and 2nd archive...
Image

Hope it works now all fine... will come back later about some other aspects of backupping, or better to say: "Mirroring" MM on an external RAIS (Linux). Have some questions about the architecture I suppose your tool will be an important part of it...

Thank's again! - Great tool & Enjoy the soccer mad times (may the best win 8) ) and hot summer as we have it here in Central Europe ! - TC/SM2010.

I'm glad you got it working. This backup script is a wonderful tool to have. It has saved my butt many, many times.

It's really weird. I randomly get an error with this script. I have it set up to save a Zip in a folder on my C drive, and then copy it to a folder on my external M drive. Sometimes, it runs without issue, but the next time I may get the issue, only for it to go off without a hitch the next time.

Code: Select all

Script: C:\...\ABackups2.vbs
Line: 474
Char: 9
Error: Permission denied
Code: 800A0046
Source: Microsoft VBScript runtime error
I usually just click the error off without bothering to read it, but this time I left it up and headed this way. The error itself seems unhelpful, since it's just erroring out on deleting one of the folders created (Plugins, this time), however it looks like when this error occurred, it had already deleted one of the other folders so it shouldn't have been an issue. Is there a solution to prevent this from occurring?

Sorry, for some reason I never spotted this last post. "Permission denied" usually means the OS or some sort of antivirus software blocked the script from executing - unfortunately there's nothing I can do to work around that, but it seems strange that it only happens occasionally. :-?

I am still seeing this occasionally . Starting to wonder if it may be some sort of delayed completion of the zip task which results in the temporary folder/files still being owned by that process.

I agree, it is quite strange and also what makes it most frustrating. I can't think of any differences between the times it occurs and doesn't. Same AV, same OS, etc.
