Are you using the XZip or DotNetZip component? Did you try installing/registering them again?

Dotnet zip .. as xzip always fails.

I have tried reinstalling but will do so again. Think i will scrub the registry before installing.

Yep that fixed it .. uninstalled DotNetZip using a registry cleaner then reinstalled.

Backup error 'Call fso.DeleteFile(zdir,True)'

Post by waypointwatchman »

I am running MediaMonkey version 4.1.4.1709 on Windows 7. I am capable of following instructions to rectify problems but am not an expert in identifying the causes. I have been successfully running the backup script until recently, when I started receiving a Windows error notice. Below are images of the windows error, MediaMonkey backup instructions and the line and character error highlighted in NoteBlock. How do I rectify this please?:

I just totally removed MMW from my server and reinstalled. Then used the restore.vbs to get bits back.
I had 3 tabs (tv, videos, music) and I had View->Mediatree turned off. After restore these did not appear. Is this a backup problem or a MMW not saving this info problem?

I don't know where this information is stored, probably the registry - did you include the registry settings?
Download my scripts at my own MediaMonkey fansite.
All the code for my website and scripts is safely backed up immediately and for free using Dropbox.

Hi trixmoto .. yes the registry is included in the settings.
This is a small thing and more of a heads up when you don't have anything else to do :)

Still loving Backup with the dotnetzip .. thanks

Would it be possible in the next release to add in a start time / frequency function. The reason I ask is that if I want to run MM as a service then I would like the backup to take place at a time when the server is least busy. say at 3.00am in the morning just before my data backup kicks off, and to perform this function maybe weekly. So the "On start / Shutdown" doesn't work for me. And even if I set the "when running" flag to some large number, it still does not give me control of control when the backup will start.

Many thanks.

I do not believe that addons run when MM is running as a service. My understanding is that the service is simply for streaming

Were you using the DotNetZip feature? Or the original backup/zip?
The directory where the files are copied to before zip .. is that still there?

Backup 6.0 Problems

Post by dypsis »

Two problems that I have had with this Addon are:
"Auto backup on shutdown" always fails, so I have unselected that option.
Restore.vbs never works for me, so I attempt to copy the files and registry entries manually.

I had a problem with MMW earlier last year when using the Backup on shutdown. It turned out, at the time, that there was a conflict between MMW, Backup and the service. MMW trying to shutdown (saving info as a lot of info is only saved when it exits) and the time the service starts up. By then the Backup was trying to run and there was some conflict. I haven't tried it again since then as I tend to do a backup before each time I make any real number of changes.

The restore has never failed me. The problem I had was with the Backup zipping. trixmoto did a great job of working in DotNetZip and haven't had an issue since. With either the zip or the restore vbs.

What exact vbs error are you getting?

I hate to ask but can someone tell me in the simplest layman's terms, how do I do a restore?

Huge thanks in advance.
