Select the collection to use for DLNA?

Postby MMuser2011 » Fri Jul 20, 2012 8:14 am

I have activated media sharing (UPnP/DLNA) in the Options, Library, Media sharing. On the right side there is a button "Options". There, in the first tab, you can choose what do you want to share.

Could you please let us choose inside the collections, which nodes we want to see on a DLNA capable device? A selection like the one for the playlists would be great!
Actually, I see all the following folders on my Android mobile:
- Musik
- Klassische Musik
- Podcast
- Hörbuch
- Musik-Video
- Video
- TV
- Playlists

Would it not be better if the same settings as in Options, Library, Media Tree are valid here too?
In the Media Tree I have only selected:
- Entire Library
- MagicNodes
- Playlists

As you can see, there are different problems:
a) The activated collections/nodes/folders in the Media Tree are not the same as on a DLNA capable device *
b) The folders have a mixture of german and english descriptions. The nodes appears with german descriptions in the english Media Tree too. The MM4 language selection seems not to change this values.
c) I can't see 'Entire Library' or 'MagicNodes' - even activated - in DLNA devices ('MagicNodes' is not that important on a DLNA device)

* I asked a developer of a DLNA app for android. He told me:
The settings are local to MediaMonkey and it only knows about it. So Ideally, MediaMonkey should have done the filtering and sent the filtered data down.
My app does not know or does any filtering on content. It is showing what server sends its way.

As I understand, MM does only show whichever nodes are shown per collection as per the collection settings (eg if you hide the artist node, it should not show any artist node via DLNA). So you may be experiencing a bug. You should contact support.

a) You may want to restart MM and the device as it may be a cache you're seeing. For me only shared Collections are shown.
b) This has been reported, I presume this is related to the users ability to modify Collection names (thus you can change them to 1 language yourself)
c) Entire Library should be available (again it may be a cache issue) and MagicNodes aren't

Thank you Lowlander for your reply. I will try to restart both: MM4 and my android device. Are there any cached files that I can delete, just to be absolutely sure?
