I just spent some more time trying out MMA on my NVIDIA Shield TV.
First of all I was not able to install MMA Pro through a browser on my PC. (device not compatible)

- I got it managed to grant access to the external HDD through the options menu. The start screen that should do the same (granting access) was not usable with my remotes.
- Then I was able to select the sync server.
- under options -> choose library folders -> I can not delete a folder as the garbage bin icons are not accessable
- I was not able to choose the playlists I want to sync from the MMW Server as the corresponding Buttons and Checkboxes did not react on button presses.
- So I selected the playlists on MMW.
- Then I could sync through the options menu. First sync faild, but second try was successful.
- I can play a song, if I open it with MMA from within an explorer App
- I can not use any of the home screen tiles as I cannot access them with any controller
- the search field and button on the home screen can not be used

I do not know if you improved something in the last builds or I was just too lazy to figure out the things that are already working with MMA on Android TV, but my today's experiences make me confident for the next releases.

Hi,
drunknmonkey you are describing the issues I had with Nexus Player while it was on Android TV 5.0 after upgrade to Android TV 8.0 Oreo many things improved and most things work now.

Also I bought Keyboard+Touch pad similar to https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WQG6A8C?m= ... etail_page and after I enable External Virtual keyboard it works like a dream (mostly) even MMA is not yet optimized for TV usage.

Thanks for the hints. Android 8 is unfortunately not yet available for the shield TV.
I have an touchpad app on my smartphone that I can control the shield TV with. That doen't help to access the home screen tiles.

Hi,
Have you tried to directly connect Generic USB Mouse (Usually even cheapest mouses are Generic HID devices)?

I gave that a try yesterday and was surprised that it really worked well.
I will use that as a workaround, but would really like it better to use the standard shield remote.

Hi,
That is something under development for MMA 2.0 Where UI gets redesigned.

Play controls work for me on Google Player for you?

When you are redisigning MediaMonkey for the shield TV/Android will the user interface be similar as the one thats running on a windows pc?
I have been looking for a media player for my ShieldTV but i havent found one that actually have the same user interface and full library view on he same screen.

Hi,
I would be glad to see that in MMA 2.0 but UI controls are limited, we will try to fill the blank space more efficiently.

Yes it is still working on. Authorizations to get some app listed as compatible makes lots of delays.

+1 on nvidia shield tv dev. Dlna works great from vlc to MMW repository, but native MMA would be preferred. That would lessen the learning curve for family for media usage maintained on MMW.

I couldn't agree more.

Are you looking for beta testers?

I am willing and able, many years in CompSci going back to 1975 on an old CDC mainframe.... Am hoping to also put MMA through its paces on my nVidia Shield boxes, syncing to my MMW server.

If you can use my services can give you a detailed l/wan structure I would be testing on.

Eitger way can you allow MMA to be installed on the Android TV from the playstore. Right now PS just says my device (Android 7.1) is not allowed.
