Stop MediaMonkey as primary play startup

MediaMonkey chooses itself as the primary playback. As soon as I pick a song from my music library, MediaMonkey pops up as the playback choice. This is OK some of the time but it is interfering with my Movie software. I need to be able to shut it off as being the playback primary choice. Any help would b appreciated. Thanks,Ron

Are you using MediaMonkey for Metro or MediaMonkey for Windows? For the latter change associations under Tools > Options > OS Integration.
