New phone, missing playlists

Post by PeteF3 » Fri Aug 17, 2018 6:36 pm

I just had to replace my phone--same model, a Moto Z2 Play. I transferred my old Sim and SD card to the new phone, and MediaMonkey found all my music, but none of my playlists. Looking at a File Manager app, it appears the playlist files are all still there, but when I go into the file folders in MediaMonkey it says the playlist folder is empty. Trying to re-sync by USB, and MediaMonkey "found a problem" with every single song in the playlist(s) and nothing synced. Any ideas on how to get my playlists back? I feel like if they're already on the phone there should be a relatively quick way of doing it without resorting to formatting the SD card and starting all over again.

What problem?

Which version of MMA and MMW and do any other Apps on the phone recognize the Playlists?

MMW 4.1.21.1875
MMA 1.3.2.0824

Google Play Music doesn't seem to recognize anything on the SD card, but I don't use it and only gave it a cursory going-over as to how to recognize the card before giving up.

MMW didn't specify what the problem was, hence the quote marks, it just offered to make a playlist of the songs in question.

I'm not sure that you can expect SD card transfers to work like this. The reason why is that they often have unique identifiers in the Path and Playlists are basically a list of file Paths. Thus only when the Paths are the same could a Playlist work in the first place.

As for sync problems, you can capture a debug log (step 4b) of the sync and attach the log to a Support Ticket: https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewt ... ?f=26&t=69
