MMA not auto-detecting changes after sync

After I sync MM4W 4.1.22.1880 on my Windows 7 computer with MMA 1.3.2.0824 on my Motorola X4 phone (Android 8.1) via USB, MMA no longer automatically senses that files have been added or removed. I must force a re-scan via MMA Options | Check for new/changed media for the new files/deletions to show up. I'm sure it used to automatically detect changes (I'd get the little spinning arrow without any action on my part,) but not any more. Is there a setting for this, or is it a quirk with this phone, or a quirk with MMA? I don't know when the behavior changed, but it's possible that it worked automatically on my previous LG phone but not on this Motorola, which I got about 3 months ago.

This should be fixed in MMA 1.3.3 (in beta right now).
