Can't Sync At All - Android

I just bought and installed MM Gold 4.1.23.1881 on Windows 10 Pro
I also bought and installed MMA Pro on Galaxy S8+

I tried following the steps documented in:
https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index. ... oid_device

And couldn't get past step 3 because MMA cannot find a Sync Server
- I have my Fire Wall turned off
- Both laptop and android are connected to the same network

I am completely at a loss at this point.

I tried following the steps in the article you provided:

Step 1: Yes all versions of MMW and MMA are current
Step 2: Failed - cannot connect and access content. When I clicked UPnP and it just says "Searching..."

So I then went to the link "Failure to Connect to the UPnP/DLNA Server"

From my android device, I opened a browser and entered the server url
http://192.168.0.152:10089/DeviceDescription.xml (which I got from MMW)

And I did see the XML, so apparently the device can access the server, however MMA simply cant seem to find the sync server

Edited to add:

I also tried unistalling MMA and reinstalling it on my S8+, and the same things described above are happening

Anyone else have any Ideas.... If not, it will sadden me to return this product, because I thought I found something to be iTunes free, finally!!! :D

I experienced the same problem for quite a while: mma on my mobile couldn't find my mmw UPnP server on my laptop while the XML connection test worked as well as the connection between my receiver and mmw. So, configuration on my mmw should be ok. Of course, I checked media sharing and wifi sync port settings, but still no mmw server visible on my mma.

What solved my problem: Customize your mma home screen by adding the UPnP icon (via option menu). Go back to your mma home screen and select "UPnP" what will list all your available UPnP servers in the subnet where your mobile also belongs to. In my case a mmw UPnP server with older IP address was still listed and selected as default!!
I selected the mmw UPnP server with the new IP address and woop, connection and sync worked 8)

MM5 = 5.0.4.2675 (lifetime license)
MMA = 1.4.5.0960 (on Android devices)

Thanks for your comments.

I already had the UPnP button on my MMA homescreen. When I select UPnP, MMA finds NO servers. Just sits there with a spinning circle saying "Searching..." Eventually it pops up a message at the bottom of the app that says "Could not find any UPnP servers on the network"

And yes both MMW and MMA are on the same network and firewall turned off on laptop.

Ultimately, MMW and MMA are very nice nice players but the sync needs a lot work... That together with the fact that the MediaMonkey staff have not really been responsive to helping solve makes it hard to adopt this product.

Hi,
All looks ok, but can you try few more things?

1. Can you please restart MMW while MMA shows Searching?

2. Is Your Laptop also connected over WiFi? If Yes can you connect with wire to the router and try again (including 1. above)?

Hey I had this exact same problem.

MMA (on Galaxy S8) couldnt find MMW (on Win 10 Pro). However if I started MMA first then started MMW it would find the server.

Here's how I ended up solving the problem.

There is a windows setting that will makes the computer discoverable by other devices on the network.

1. To enable Network Discovery on Windows 10:
Settings\Network & Internet\Wi-Fi or Ethernet (from left menu)\Change advanced sharing options\Turn on network discovery
2. Reboot PC

Works fine for me now!!!!

I'm having exactly the same issues that Pendel13 is describing. I have tried all of the suggestions and followed all of the links in this thread up to this point. Other UPnP devices can find the MMW server and play from it fine, but my Samsung S6 cannot find the server or sync.

Hi,
Can you try these steps and let us know if S6 recognized MMW server?

0. Make sure that no other device is accessing MMW server
1. Start Sync setup/UPnP in MMA
2. Confirm that MMW server is not found
3. Start Scan For Sync Server again
4. At the same time while MMA is still scanning restart MMW
5. Confirm if MMW Server gets recognized
6. Continue and finish Sync setup or browse/play some file thru UPnP
