How Custom?

Postby SCash on Thu Nov 05, 2009 7:45 am

I need to REALLY be able to use fields for the songs in my library. I own a background music service company and I want to be able to mass sort LARGE volumes of songs. Basically I want to be able to use a "smart" system to do what programs like Pandora already do. I want to be able to sort something like Female, 90's, Rock, UpTempo, Singer-Songwriter and on and on ... I LOVE Media Monkey ... I want to use it for this as well! I know Monkey has three custom fields. Can I re-name the fields Monkey already uses? Can I add more fields? If this isn't going to work, does anyone have any ideas?

If you're using MM3.1 then there are 5 custom (and renamable) fields, but you cannot rename other fields. You can however use them for different things, or example my "Mood" field is used to store PUIDs, I just have to remember that because I can't change the label! :)

If you have MM Gold, you have a lot of power available in the Advanced Search tab.

Off the top of my head it looks like you want to use multiple genres e.g. "R&B; 60s Girl Group; Billboard100" and then select and sort from there.
