v 2145: does not import MM4 db from custom location [#15302]

Post by Barry4679 »

My MM4 database is in a custom location

* clean PORTABLE install MM5
* accept offer to import MM4 db
* but empty MM5 database created

workaround: copy my MM4 db from custom location to C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\MediaMonkey\MM.DB before starting MM5 for the 1st time

This problem is new to version 2145

Hi,
It is normal to do that, MM5 reads MM4 installation folders which are C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\MediaMonkey\ for normal install and Portable folder for Portable installs.

We can't read Custom locations.

All MM5 versions, up until the latest, initialised my MM5 successfully from my custom db location.

This is a new problem with MM% version 2145.

Hi,
Ok Please make step by step, there is simply too many install cases and it is possible we missed one/few ;)

I don't understand ... it is like I said:
  • MM4 runs with its db in a custom location; ie. DBName=xxxxx in [System] section of MediaMonkey.ini
  • install MM5 ... select a portable install
  • run MM5
  • accept offer to import MM4 db
  • ?? MM5 db is installed, but it is empty
For the prior release, and all the ones before that ... just the same, except for:
  • no need to select "portable", as it was pre-selected and the control was disabled
  • MM5 db was pre-populated using data from my MM4 db in my custom location
