I've given up on hoping that MM gets ported onto the Mac. The Linux music manger Amarok however is being ported to Mac very soon though so I'll probably give that a try.

I also am a lifetime Gold member and would spend $100 for a Mac version.
A question to the MM team: wouldn't all the donations be able to boost the development of an OS X version? I'm pretty sure that we could get quite much money together...
Also, is there any update on this: http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/index.php?loginresult=1&group=default&_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=32. I'm asking because it was posted in January :)

It's really incredible how one program can make such a difference. I have a Macbook for 2 years now and plan on switching completely to Mac. But like many others already posted before, the ONLY thing which still keeps me doubting about a complete switch is MEDIAMONKEY :D

If I can't have MediaMonkey for Mac, I guess I will just stay with windows XP.

Despereate to see something better on OS X. 15-year Windows user and I'm so sad to see the lack of a good music player. Tried Cog, Songbird, Play and a few others. Very disappointing.

I'm almost going to install Bootcamp or Parallels just for a better app. Truth be told, I used WinAmp and foobar in Windows because I was so used to them, but I know MM is great and would switch to it in a heartbeat if it had an OS X version.

For those undecided about making the switch to Mac because of our beloved MediaMonkey, I have used a Mac since March 2008 and have used VM Ware. I ONLY use MediaMonkey on the XP virtual machine and find that it works flawlessly. I am using it right now. I am able to sort my music seemlessly and use my ipod and iphone, even using an external 1TB drive on the Mac side through the server configuration. It was EASY to set up. I cant wait for it to go to Mac but in the meantime I am perfectly happy with using it as an alternative to itunes **boo**. Snip all the restrictions and let me organize and play my music the way I want. Go ahead...go with your intuition...get the Mac, use VM and keep using your MM! I have over 320GB of well organized music, a collection that amazes everyone and its only because of MM that it could be so good. Right on.

Agreed. VMWare Fusion for the Mac is incredibly impressive. Its the most seamless Virtual Machine I have seen and blows Parallels out of the water. You can have your Windows Taskbar on the bottom of the screen and your Mac launchbar on the right hand side of the screen. You can have MM window right on your Mac OSX desktop like its a true running MAcOSX application even though its actually running in Windows. It is amazing. Fusion is a little expensive but worth every penny.

UPDATE: I just got an update from a friend that says MM acts erratically under Fusion. Bummer....

Is it possible with VMWare Fusion to drag a song from mediamonkey into another program like for example traktor or another music player?

Good question. I know you can cut and paste between Mac and Windows windows but I don't know about drag a song out of it. My buddy is doing some more MM testing with Fusion right now i will let you know how it goes. He needed to do all the windows updates to his XP install in Fusion before he gave me his MM impressions under Fusion.

I'm planning on switching to a Mac so i'm using iTunes now instead of MM to get a used to it, since MM doesn't work on a Mac. It's really a weird that the developers of MM don't have a Mac version available, especially because Mac's are getting more popular everyday. They could easily multiply their share of users and profit by a certain number with a Mac version.
I've been trying iTunes now fot two months and still i don't like it. I think i'll try another player like Amarok or some other players mentioned in this forum.
Too bad..

the trouble is as said before job's is a control freak. he just don't like it when someone makes software for his mac so he changes something in it to not allow it to work, to make you use his mac software which is working on his systems but does not do as good or as many items as the ones on the pc systems.
yes mac is getting more users thats because he finally bent a little and let windows run on mac. through some sort of package like wine, but only one he can control not wine.

Actually, that's all very untrue. There have been many virtualization software packages for Mac for years, and Jobs does not control the platform the way he does the iPhone, you seem to be confused.

Please please please - MediaMonkey for Mac!!!!

I've been using a PC since they first came out. I took a job 6 years ago that was Mac based - it converted me! We now have PCs and Macs at home - the Macs are preferred by all except my son who likes to game online.

Macs are definitely not "dumbed-down" PCs! Macs are easy to use. They are easy to learn. They are easy to add programs to and easy to remove programs from. They are easy to find files and content on. They are, in a nutshell, easier to use than PCs. That doesn't make them "dumb", it makes them smart.

"Dumbed down?" Did you know Macs don't have the ability to restore from the trash bin without having activated Time Machine and bought a gazillion dollar external hard drive? OS X IS dumbed down!

Oh man...PLEEEEEEEEZ, PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZ make a MM Mac ver.! my pending marriage depends upon it. you ask how? here's the true story.

just yesterday, my wonderful fiance buys "me" a macbook and LED Cinema display (she'll use it, too, but bought it thinking it's media capabilities would make it a great option for my music collection i'm always tweaking). i keep 2 ext. hd's w all my music, which i've meticulously updated and managed with MM for the past 2 years. of course, now i'm hooked on MM like a bad drug habit. i've been able to pull together a massive hodgepodge of former roomate's music downloads, rips, file formats...you name it...a mess, that MM let me clean up and then some. MM is amazing.

so here's the catch. my wonderful fiance, the woman i'm going to marry, my future baby's momma, this amazing person that loves nothing more than to give and see another person happy, buys this great mac system for christmas. it looks sweet. graphics amazing. maybe a little oversimplified, but that's not an issue for me. it's clean and sleek and has plenty of power. so i'm all ready to make the mac conversion. i plug in my ext. hd and go to launch MM last night...then it hits me. i freak out after recalling there's no MM app for the MAC OS X platform. i panicked. i search out this forum and read that there is no dev. plan for a mac MM vers. for 1-2 years????

i turn to my fiance and tell her...gulp...we might have return the mac.

so with christmas essentially ruined...needless to say, i'm in the doghouse. guys, mac represents a significant market for MM. i completely respect all the dev. efforts. it's why MM is so freaking good! more people realize that itunes is a joke. anyone i told about MM has switched to it. now that i'm faced with using itunes again, i have to say, i forgot how bad it is having used MM for the past two years. i'm feeling nuetered.

so my MM fellows, I would gladly pay $100. help me save the holidays and possibly my future with my baby momma.
