MM for Mac - I just switched to Apple

I suggest you to use Parallels until there is a Mac version of MM - I'm doing it aswell and it works flawlessly. The only reason I actually use it is because of MM. I even upgraded my new MacBook Pro to 4GB RAM mainly because I need to use this virtualizing software, which needs alot of memory! Thats pretty crazy when I think about it...

i just got back from a long trip and doubled my music collection over the holiday...any chance you could walk me thru how i can set-up MM running parallels on my mac? again, i'm new to the mac.

I posted earlier last sept when I went through MM withdrawal. After months I found this wonderful site that at least makes itunes 8 palatable: http://dougscripts.com/itunes/
I haven't coughed up the money yet for registering his Library Manager but hope it can load them all at the same time, right now my free version only loads 2 Libraries at a time. But at least I can load another "library" and then add that libraries playlist to my iPod with his playlist script. The duplicator script (Duplin) allowed me to find all the mac duplicates that were created when I brought over my extensive MM files onto the external drive and my 2 mac logon accounts (admin and user).
And finally, I read some posts from disappointed mac switchers. I must agree that the mac and windows are becoming very muted. I've seen comparison reviews that the up front cost of a mac is balanced by the included software BUT I was sorely disappointed. Those supposedly loaded and ready to use programs are so basic that they are rarely useful unless you buy the pro versions or search and add numerous scripts or extensions. I am however pleased with the ease of incorporating the iMac into my wireless network and plan to use it as a server eventually. But again, the basic, installed programs cannot manage files on an external drive (even when hardwired) unless you buy the pro programs or add scripts. That is especially true of my audio, video and graphic files that are stored there.

So how is the Parrells working with the upgrad to 4GB? I upgraded mine as well but fearful about slowing the system down. I love the 5 second iMac start up compared to the 2 min Win PC startup.

I am going to try that first as the cost is only the WIN XP OS which I already have. I am quite impressed with Open Office handing all my MS office files so if this vitural OS works I can get into all my MM file info.

alright...parallels works perfectly. actually awesome to run mac and windows xp on same box seamlessly. i have been using the trial version the past four days... problems solved. i just connect my external HD to my Windows XP virtual machine, run MM, have access to my entire music catalog. i did have to buy a 4 port usb hub for my macbook (only 2 usb ports, but i connect my big, beautiful mac monitor, printer, ipod, external drive(s)...no prob) so i can keep my external plugged in and synch my ipod. it all works...took some time and tweaking, but i have it working seamlessly now.

i'm keeping the macbook and monitor. my fiance is keeping me. but, guys, a mac MM version is still needed. parallels and windows xp ain't cheap. plus, i am trying (unsuccessfully) to figure out a way to use Front Row without having to use iTunes so i can use the remote to listen to my playlists. i just downloaded a Front row alternative for the mac called Plex. all i really want is to be able to import the m3u playlists i created in MM (i have 50) into either Plex, or Front Row, or any gui that lets me use my mac remote control. Any suggestions are welcomed.

integrating the future Mac MM with Front Row so it will recognize MM created playlists is now on my wish list.

thanks for all the work you guys put into MM. i'd pay $180 for Mac MM...it'd be cheaper than paying for parallels & windows xp.

For the MM developers reading this thread, I am SO ready for a Mac version of MM. I'm a gold MM buyer and the last of my machines is being switched to a Mac...I just can't stand anymore countless hours of frustrating 'upkeep' to have windows working properly. The only software equivalent I can't find for Mac is a good non-Itunes music library. I needs my Media Monkey!!

That cross-platform version can't come soon enough...

I too would love a mac version of media monkey. Right now I have a macbook setup with the latest osx, using vmware fusion and a vista ultimate o/s running my media monkey in my mac osx via unity from vmware. Alot of effort. Anychance you guys are going to build a mac version or a linux version?

Please, please, please port your code over to the OSX platform. Your app is THE BEST when it comes to the media catalog and I love the winamp libs using for playback (winamp plays with best quality in my opinion). We are switching away from shit M$OS to the Mac OSX like crazy and need to support our current habits

First, great work on MM....although I have still yet to use the program to its full potential.

I'm a mobile DJ/VJ and have been using MM on my Windows machines to rip my CDs that I subscribe to for my music. The problem I have with MM...or shall I say myself...is that it's all I'm using MM for. I know it can do so much more...but I can't seem to figure out an easy way to batch tag and change the actual file names within MM. After I rip my CDs, I'll then open another program to tag all of the new rips. I know I've just not taken the time out to learn MM...and I've owned the Lifetime version of MM for over a year now. One of these days I'm going to sit down on my PC and learn all that I can actual do with MM.

I would love to see a MAC OS version of MM as well....and hopefully by then, I'll have a much better grasp on all that I can do with MM.
