Dynamic height of album art

Postby BlueDragon » Tue Feb 01, 2011 2:33 pm

Hi,

I didn't find any similar request, so I created a new topic.

My problem is that not all of my album covers have exactly the same ratio, which results in small white gaps between the image and the borders.
So I'd like to have an option to make it fit all the time. A practical solution would be to add a option to make the height dynamic.

Example:

This cover fits perfectly
Image

This one's height is a bit smaller, so there are two white spaces at top and bottom

This way it would fit again, but I'll have to do it manually

hmm. But what happens when picture height is greater than width?

How about an auto-resize picture to always make square (or fit the frame)?

This is what normally happens:

And this is how I wish it would be:

If other people don't like it, they should be able to turn the option off.

Most of the covers in my library are almost a square, so that could be a solution.
But some are not (like in my example) and would look extremely ugly.

I like BlueDragon's idea.

But I can see some problem with it.

1: Is it possible in mediamonkey to have panels resize instantly and without artifact and flickering.
2: If you dock the aa panel at the side of the player the height is fixed and can't be change anymore

I wouldn't want the panel to resize to fit Album Art, but as an option for others I'm fine with that.

re. 2: A solution for that could be:

-if width is fixed: height becomes variable.
-if height is fixed: width becomes variable.

hey,

it's been a while since the last post, but I wanted to come up with this again.

Is there any chance, my idea could be implemented in future releases as an option? 8)
And what has to be done to make it reality?
