EarApe: a community-fueled prototype

Post by n49o7 »

Hello everyone,

As I explained here, I personally think the MM UI is not that great. Just an opinion, don't get angry. So I thought I'd create a prototype for research.

It's called EarApe and is based on the Mozilla platform. Ultimately, this prototype shall be presented to the MM dev team as some sort of "suggestion" to see what they think and give them ideas.

The Mozilla platform offers the following benefits:
- easy to write code (xml-like)
- on-the-fly execution (no need to compile, just create a shortcut)
- compatible with your favorite text editor (I suggest Sublime Text 2)
- easy to style (with css)

Mainly because I don't have the necessary knowledge, but also because I didn't want to work on my own, I created a git repository as well as a thread on MDN (not the liveliest forum - alternatives ?).

This thread is for discussion about the concepts, so feel free to share your ideas and opinion.

Links:
- Git repository: github:EarApe
- MDN thread: developer.mozilla.org/forums
- Suggested UI: mediamonkey.com/forum
- Sublime Text 2: sublimetext.com

All inputs are needed and welcome!
