External Directory used for Album Art Sync

Postby Keikonium » Mon Jun 18, 2012 11:07 pm

This is my first post here, and the following is the last thing I require of Media Monkey to make it my new default music player to sync my iDevice.
I have migrated from another well known player that had a fantastic plug-in to manage an iPod. The developer is MIA and the plug-in no longer works for iOS5. It had a feature to scan an external directory for album art that match a pre-determined string and apply that album art to an album of the same name.

To put it a little more clear, I have my album art @ "C:\albumart\<ALBUM TITLE>.jpg". I have my music folders @ "E:\My Music\<ARTIST NAME>\<ALBUM TITLE>\<TRACKS>.mp3". I do not keep my art in the same folder, but they are all titled with the album name. I need a way to sync my album art to my iPod Touch 4th Gen using this setup. I do not want to put images in with my audio files. Is there a way to make this happen?

Unfortunately for you there's really no way to do something like that with MediaMonkey. In order for the art to work on an iPod, etc. the art has to be associated with the track in MediaMonkey. So you'd have to actually right-click the track in MM, go to the Album art tab, and click the Add button, then pick the right image file.

The only more automated way would be to move each art file to the same folder where the tracks of the album are stored, then rescan.

That's what I was afraid of. My previous music player could scan an external directory and add the art that way, it was great, but not iOS5 compatible. Moving 600+ pieces of album art by hand will have to be the way for me then. Thank you for the reply :)

A note to the dev's: If external directory scans for album art ever get implemented you have my thanks a thousand times over :)
