i rip all my music with eac, and use the format for file names track number - title, and track number - artist - title for various artist albums.

most of the reason i do this is the character limitations of my pc in the pathname, as it can get really long sometimes trying to store the info in some way that i can get the info if need be.

this kind of limits the auto tag from filename for me, but if i could auto tag from folder names would be awesome, as they contain alot more information, album artist, year, album name, catalogue number, and some other important info.

if there's a way to already do this, can someone show me how please.

maybe something awkward, would also be to be able to place certain parts of the tag from script, into different tag fields.

such as this folder name - 36 Crazyfists - Bitterness The Star (2002) [FLAC] {Roadrunner Records RR8483-2}

i would like to be able to select such as {Roadrunner Records RR8483-2} from the auto tag from menu, and be able to place this anywhere i like, such as a custom field.

sorry if this is useless for anyone else, im just thinking of my library here.

tags from folder names work exactly the same as tags from file name.

ie
<artist> - <album> (<year>) {<custom 1>}\<track#> - <title>

i never realised this could be done with folder names, i thought it was restricted to filenames.
