more custom fields

Post by Guest » Fri Jan 27, 2006 11:40 am

MM would be practically perfect for me if only it could have more "custom" field tags. Also if these could be custom labelled would be even better.

I am a musician and I sometimes need to classify songs by various musical aspects, such as key, scale, rhythm, various subgenres, etc, etc.

Is this reasonably/likely possible to be added? I'd easily be a lifetime license purchaser if my wish could come true :D

Thanks for a great program!

I'm sure many people would like more fields, there's always more info! :)

It's possible (although maybe not practical) to store all of these fields in a list in Custom 1 (ie: "Key;Scale;Rhythm") and then have a script which extracted the info you wanted and put it in Custom 2. So if you wanted to sort all your music by key, you would run the script, choose "key" and then the script would populate custom 2 with all the key information (leaving the list in custom 1). Does this make sense?
Download my scripts at my own MediaMonkey fansite.
All the code for my website and scripts is safely backed up immediately and for free using Dropbox.

Hmm, interesting. I have not looked into scripts yet. Sounds flexible.

I also want some more custom information ;-)
My approach is a multi-selectable-list - means what:

The Lookuplist contains e.g.:
  • -Pop
    -Rock
    -Punk
    -RnB
    -MaleSinger
    -FemaleSinger
    -GermanSpoken
    -EnglishSpoken
    -Top10
    -Top20
I'd then like to mark
  • -Pop
    -Punk
    -MaleSinger
    -Top20
so I can search for any, some or all items selected.
What do you think ?
