Wishlist for MM 5

Post by heartofhate » Mon Mar 28, 2016 4:39 am

I have read recently that MM5 is in the works so maybe we can create a little wish list for the future update :D
actually i am really happy as it is now (never change a running system...) but will be good if MM gets a little face lifting.
  • one good sign is that the theming is going to change. so it will be easier to create new themes (actually there hasn't been any development recently... unfortunately)

i also like to see something like MonkeyRok as a build in feature. So the theming will be much easier...

Streaming to Google's Chromecast would be fun! As far as i know there is no program for the PC where it allows you to stream videos or songs. Only possible via tablet/smartphone...

faster start up time: MM runs on a ssd with win10 and the music is stored on a hdd (witch 16mb cache) but still takes a bit to start up ~around 19500 files to load
maybe you guys could add some more good features!

1. Faster Overall (already coming).
+ 2. The ability to multi-grab select at any position horizontally in the filelist without it shooting back to far left.
3. Moveable collections via drag and drop in the tree.
4. Moveable collections in the options dialog via drag and drop (or, at least the ability to hold down the up and down
arrows with your mouse for automatic/continuous movement).
* + 5. An option to lock the volume slider into place.

6. No conjoined tag fields (album/series, etc.). Separate them out and add other fields for video like character, encoder, etc.
7. Multiple artwork viewing via Art and Details pane (without having to change out each image via right-click menu). [see last few posts here viewtopic]
8. Collapsible collections (MM shouldn't try to be recreate MagicNodes, but it desparately needs "just" that one little thing). Playlists have it, so
should Collections.
9. More Custom Fields (including multi-item fields)
+ 10. Have selection bar behave as a cursory tool that automatically moves to changes in playback

- Have collections criteria dialog boxes remember/return back to previously used setting/value when selecting add new criteria for a particular collection.
+ Involved People node
- A way to "filter" out "unsynchronized files" check, as a saved list/collection (see viewtopic)
- To be able to use a playlist name as autoplaylist criteria (viewtopic)
- Multiple check/uncheck function at top of "all" dialog boxes that involve flush left/consecutive checkboxes.

+ An independent single track repeat function (can work with mulitple songs loaded, preferably as a right-click menu item).
- A way to save custom search entries/order in the tree
+ Stop buttons standard with all MM/preloaded skins (as part of the skin's player area).
- Better Looking (already coming).

* most recently added to this list.
+ features that should have been a part MM since the beginning or at least since v.3

...and probably a couple others I can't think of at the moment.
Also, not to expect this for MM5 (actually, not to expect too much of any of it), but I'm really gonna be lovin' it when photo/image support finally comes!

Check back, it will be added to/adjusted as the months go by before we see MM5 :( :-? :) :D

Maybe I missunderstand you, but if not, you can. Just mark the search term and click on delete

Yes! You can. Right-Click on term > Remove
I guess I was just visually thrown because Remove is at the top of its RC menu section instead of typically beneath something like
cut, copy, paste. I've corrected my list.
Thanks!!! :)

I'm not sure what you mean by "mark" and "delete", though.

Just click on the search term and hit delete on your keyboard

Main wishlist:

1) Better support for video tagging.
When looking at the database structure (especially the table "song") you can find a lot of tags which are defined for songs, but a lot of tags for videos are missing. Some examples are:
- multiple fields for adding actors (table songs I expect)
- additional fields for tagging series, episodes
- video format (720p, 1080p)
- production studio (e.g. "Universal")
- a new table with actor details (e.g. a picture, birth date, possible link to imdb, some custom fields for adding own data, alternative name(s) - Brad Pitt -> Williams Bradley Pitt; Angelina Jolie ->Angelina Jolie Voight )
- embedding of thumbnail creating software to create previews
-...

2) Possibility to use the full path for tagging from file name
Example: a file stored in c:\data\movies\blaablaa 2013 720p\filename.avi -> be able to include the path in the tagging and extract the year (2013) and the video quality (720p) from this string

No, not natively, but you can probably do that with "RegExp Find & Replace" add-on viewtopic.
