Some playlists don't sync & prefixed on iPod with 'Playl

Post by Spazz »

When syncing to my ipod, if I mark a smart playlist that referances other smart playlists, no playlists sync. If I mark a vanilla playlist (only unrated songs) with no referances to other playlists, it syncs fine.

Oh, and is there a way to not have the playlist name change to Playlist - <playlist name in mediamonkey> ?

I'm running Beta 3 - is it possible to turn off that the playlists are named "playlist - <name of list>" on the ipod?

Playlists on iPod

Post by rusty »

Spazz, Julian,

Not sure what you mean about playlists being renamed. e.g. when I have a playlist called 'good stuff', it appears on the iPod as 'good stuff'. Where do you see it appearing as 'Playlist - good stuff'?

Mine does the same thing--MM3 (B3) renames all of the playlists to ""playlist--xyz". It also does not sync the entire list--it only added about 1/4 of the songs--even after restoring the iPod to the original settings aseveral times and resyncing. MM2 syncs the songs fine...

iPod Playlist Sync problems

Post by rusty »

I'm beginning to wonder if this is a db/settings migration problem.

Can any of you:
-Close MM 3.0.0.1081 and Delete your MM3db and .ini file
-Restart MM 3.0.0.1081 and allow it to upgrade you MM 2.5.5 db
-After the upgrade is done, try synching to your ipod again and let me know if it works

Also, if the above fails, please send me your MM 2.5.5 db & ini file.

Thx.

Redoing the database seems to have resolved the syncing issue. It is still renaming the playlists though. I will send you my MM2 db.

Thx

Re: "playlist - <name of list>" problem:

Althoug we cannot reproduce this issue, I've made some steps that should prevent and hopefully fixes this issue in B4. Try it later, please. Thx.

Note: Make sure that we are using the same device plugin, i.e. d_iPod.dll

I tried both with the original d_ipod.dll that came with the beta and the one posted on the forum. It is the same in both cases...

after rebuilding the database from 2.5.5 the prefix is gone. GREAT.
a question: would it be possible that mediamonkey leaves the playlists on ipod, which weren't synced by mm? because then it would be nice to create autoplaylists with itunes or floola and it iwoudn't be necessary to renew them after each sync.
