optimize database (quick) doesn't work [NOTREP]

Post by DaledeSilva » Sun Feb 15, 2009 9:27 am

If I go to file, maintain library, and run everything as default... it hangs when it gets to optimize library (quick)..

but if I uncheck that and check optimize library (complete).. it seems to work fine.

btw.. these long procedures really need to bring up a progress bar.

Both work fine here but my database is probably very small by comparison.

Have you generated an error report, i.e. did MM freeze an offer you an option to send such an report? If no, could you generate an ordinary debug log please?

Btw, quick optimization does only a subset of operations of complete optimization, so this sounds strange, complete optimization shouldn't work better for you.

For me hanging seems to occur when the available space on the install drive (Windows drive) is less then the size of database. It also seems more successful when I have just started MediaMonkey vs. MediaMonkey being used for a while.

Since I freed up space on my Windows drive (where MM is installed) I haven't had a problem yet.

Windows XP SP3
MM 3.1.0.1222
DB 680MB (the MM.DB file itself)

I just a full optimize on 1222 and it took 16 minutes. It seemed to take 2 minutes on the VirtualCD (which is empty) and 14 minutes to do the full optimize.
