1345: problem with umlauts [#7238]

Post by tonydl » Mon Jan 24, 2011 7:37 pm

I don't know if it occurs to other non-english characters, too - but I can confirm it for the German umlauts ä ö ü.

When I load some items with these umlauts in their ID3 tag and restart mediamonkey there's a bug. All files with umlauts get restored wrong - and thus they aren't playable unless you reload the album to the now playing list.
The screenshots will explain it best I think:

Looks like this may be the same/a similar issue as this: 1342: NP has Strange Track Info

try to edit the tag manually in MM and replace the bad character with a new Ö.

I have many umlauts in my collection and sometimes they have been displayed wrong after adding them to the library. But correcting it with MM fixed it permanently (both in MM3 and MM4).

I can't reproduce, just added these umlaut characters to the Title of a file and restarted MediaMonkey and they show as they should in the Now Playing. It does first show it incorrectly and then corrects itself.

Okay, I had some trouble reproducing it, but I got it. It's the filename!

Try this:
- Create a new txt file - rename it to something like "test Ü.mp3"
- Drag and Drop it into the Now Playing list
- Close and Reopen MM
- Now it is greyed out and says "test As.mp3"

Sorry that i didn't narrow that down earlier - but all my files have the title in their filename - and therefore I could reproduce it with all my files :D

Edit: I think the other mentioned topic might have the same problem - not the tag but the filename.
