Installed 1379, tried to play a ordinary .ogg file which worked for 1378, but MM sets the line gray and refuses to play. I have tried several files but MM don't play anything.

I cannot reproduce it. You don't play any file, neither OGG nor MP3? Please try to swich on (or off) HW acceleration in out_mmds output plugin configuration, and try out_wave output plugin. But first, please try this out_MMDS.dll instead of the original one in MediaMonkey/Plugins folder. Any change? Thanks.
And which version of DirectX do you have? It should be at least 8. It seems to be some problem with DirectX or sound drivers.

Indeed, no sound output at all, all files are skipped. 1380 has the issue too. I have the latest DirectX installed (It should be >8, the DirectX DLL's are version 5.03.2600.5512, dated 14-4-2008, running WinXP). I tried your beta version, no difference. Wave_Out does work. Disabling hardware acceleration solves the problem too.

So in sum, disabling hardware acceleration works. But this is strange, because this wasn't necessary up to and including 1378. So something was introduced in 1379 which causes this problem?

Thanks, so this is it. I've activated HW mixing in case of checked HW acceleration, it should return UNSUPPORTED error, if the acceleration is not posible, but in your case it returns some another error. Please try to download out_MMDS.dll again, it should work now. Will be included in the next build.

Wow, thanks!

The first version of MM4 that I tried was 1379 so I had no idea what was wrong. I just couldn't play anything. Such an easy fix - lovely!

Good luck with it all, devs.
