The log indicates that d_WMDM freezes while communicating with WMDM layer, without any obvious reason for this problem on MM side. Have you sometimes had similar problem with MM3? Based on the log, I'd say that it looks like there's something corrupted, like some device driver or something like this.

Note that you can 'fix' the issue by removing d_WMDM.dll from MM.

As i mention above...
surfer wrote:...
when i delete the mentioned sync plugin "d_WMDM.dll" it seems to never hang and mm closes safely.

Maybe using still the version mm3 i simply did not notice the issue because i normally always delete the wmdm, ipod, iriver plugins after any update.
I only use "d_USBmass.dll" plugins, an i was normally always deleting the "d_WMDM.dll" after any update because i do not use it any more , but under "Options/potable devices" there about 15 entries for the plugin "d_WMDM.dll" with several different drives letters as a "Name" of the portable device.

Should i maybe delete them all? Which entry/entries should there be on a fresh install?

That wouldn't help, what I meant was to completely remove d_WMDM.dll from your MM\Plugins folder.

Sure, i know...thanks.

But when i i the future want to use this plugin, what entry/entries should remain for this plugin under "Options/portable devices" on a fresh install?

I am having the same problem with v4.0.0.1407.

Stigg,

If you can provide a debug log that would help--failure to terminate can happen for many different reasons.

Thanks!

Hi,

We're just reviewing unresolved reports: Is anyone still experiencing this in build 1435+ ?

Thanks.

Surfer,

Would you mind sending a debug log of this using the latest build?

Thanks.

Sure, already done.
It's a bit strange because the freeze does not happen each time:
- After the install of the debug-ver. 1436 and the first start MM froze on the first closing as described here.
- Afterwarrds i could not reproduce the freeze for about 10-15 starts&closings
- after that 3 subsequent freezes on closing
- afterwards again: no freeze for several starts/closings

Same for me, with mm4 AND mm3.
My collection is on a network share and the freeze happens ALWAYS when i try to close mm after a pc resume from standby.
Hope this can help, bye

Surfer,

Thanks for the log. Unfortunately, it seems that the code freezes in Windows (not in MM) so there's not much we can do. Do you also experience the problem in MM3?

I'm not sure any more if it was the same in mm3, but i think so.

What could i try to do to resolve the issue in windows? Would you have any hint?
I do not risk anything, i have backups of my system-partition in an image.

This could be related to Windows Media redistributables, which were available online in the past. However, you shouldn't need them for Win 7 anyway, so I'm not sure...
