Access Violation

Post by mgmcgahon »

Sporadically get the following message.

"Access violation at address 0086934F in module 'MediaMonkey.exe'. Read of address 00000180."

I press OK and the same message box comes up. I press OK and everything goes back to normal.

Any ideas ?

looking for a song in the ram that has been removed when you closed monkey and monkey closed too fast to change the info in the player? thats my guess, as this seems to happen every now and then, so close monkey on an empty playlist.
and check to see if your ms jet files need updated.

Thanks for that. I do play tracks from folders on the desktop before putting them on file in the external drive, so you might have it, MM is probably looking in the original location.

Will let you know if that sorts it.

From my experience, 1183 generates access violation errors quite frequently, most often when I try to access the Options menu or when I have just accessed the Options menu and try to access it again shortly after. In any event, I rarely get any errors on startup, they generally occur after having MM open and playing for some time. I have sent in multiple reports and can only hope the devs are working on it. It's getting to be quite irritating as it means I have to restart MM in order to access the options again.

spacefish if you get that many access violations start with taking out all the scripts you have
and over a week of time for testing each script for one day of playing put one in at a time and test.
then remove that one and put another one in. and so on and so forth.

because i don't use any scripts with mm 3 other then what came with it. and i only got mgmcgahon's error a few times when i did what i told them it was.

but default mm 3 with no extra 3rd party scripts does not cause this error much, and hardly ever causes any other error, i click on the options all the time. i change skins seveal times a day so i need to click on the options.
but i also got the transparent options turned off. and some others that i don't use like the milkdrop av effects i dont use that style of av effects.

but if you get an error alert when you click on options then i believe it is one of the scripts you are using more likely one of the auto scripts, but it could be a messed up script ini entry that is causing it.

Removing script is no solution. I have very often access violations in 4.0.7.1511 without any plugins in Windows 7. First at all 3party plugins shouldn't have any access to resources that can cause this error, and second the error is also a bug of mediamonkey. Maybe it has to do with some media files i use, but it needs to be resolved.
