Artist collisons in 3.2.01294

Database has gotten wonky.. when I click on the artist or album artist link in my now playing or library it has other artists in there! I think MM searches by artist id, so somehow there is overlap. Maintaining the database doesn't fix it. Any suggestions?

Try running Owyn's Database Audit script to see if there are any invalid links in your database that could be causing the discrepancies.

Tried running it.. seemed to fix some things, but not everything. Still have the same problem of "random" artists showing up, although the audit tool shows some of them.

I'm sorry I am out of ideas what the problem could be, it might be best if you submitted a support ticket. One more question though, when you did the maintain database, did you do the complete or the quick? If the quick, I would suggest trying the complete. If you did the complete, then the support ticket might be your best bet. If you want you could move your database to another location, start a new one and then use the Restore Playlists/Plays/Date Added script to restore your vital data from your database. That way you know you have a clean database.

no its not a cop out saying its win 7 or vista.

1. Microsoft announced several months ago vista was junk and they could not fix it. so they were going to release win 7 two years early.

2. vista is junk and could be causing the trouble.

3. win 7 is premature and can be in need of some updated drivers or files which could cause the trouble.
and it is new code that will allow use of more xp programs then vista and allow use of some vista stuff.
and that mix always causes troubles.

I think this is more related to junk in the db or maybe db corruption rather than Win7 or Vista. Of course I have no idea what could have caused the problem.

same problem here! I usually use my Mediamonkey db under WinXP, but recently ran it under Win7 a couple of times - so it is plausible that Win 7 is the culprit here...

I don't think so, I have run MM on Win 7 for almost a year and never ran into anything like this.

@nohitter: Are you running Win7x64? That seems to be one of the conditions to reproduce this. If you've been running it for a year, you must be using some really early beta?

I'm having this issue under Win 7 x64 Business, as released to MSDN-AA in September, with all updates installed.
