Post by saraa » Thu Nov 24, 2011 1:23 pm

Hi!
I wanna report a bug for MM 4.0.0.1459

MM scan 18400 files only

(instaled on Win Vista and Win 7 32 bit / for portable the same problem)

p.s. overal performance of version 4 seems to me lower than version 3

thanks

Do you get an error message or what happens when you reach that number? If you remove the file it stops on does it continue (a corrupt file can stop the scan?)

File > Maintain Library with complete optimization may improve performance.

Thank you for the reply Lowlander

Interesting your point of view, but I ask myself, why then everything works perfect with many subversions of MM 3, and with none of MM 4 ?! I realy don't know
Maybe one clue could help: in fact I looked again after your reply and does seem scan all files but in the left-down corner show only that number of files (18400), the hours of playback and the Mb/Gb correspondent to that one, not to the full library (about 19000)

In that case enable the Entire Library under Tools > Options > Media Tree and use the Entire Library to verify that you're missing files.

This means some of your files have a different Type, probably Classical Music and thus aren't shown in the Music Collection.

Yeup you're right again. Was about classical music indeed. Sorry for my newbie knowledge.

And improved performance with complete optimization too. :)

It's not just you, the whole 'types' (classical, music, podcasts, etc.) thing is, IMO, very poorly explained in the upgrade documentation, and having MM4 automagically deciding half your collection is 'classical music' and hiding it from you, synching it differently, etc. is a poor decision - stuff like that should require the user to do something.

+1
Having been using MM since MM2 I didn't class myself as a "newbie" but that caught me out too.
