Playback very slow on MM 4.0.3

Postby Exile_ken » Sat Apr 07, 2012 10:48 pm

I upgraded to 4.0.3 a week ago. Since the upgrade I experience a very annoying problem of very slow playback, like a 45 rpm record playing a 33 1/3, or even 16. This does not happen all the time and it can happen when a song starts to play, or even in the middle of a song that is playing. There is no real pattern that I have found, but he most common instance is if I make use of the menu bar at the bottom, either to play a song, change the volume, or rate a song that's playing. If I stop the song with ctrl+o, and then start it again using the play command at the top, or the right click menu, it will play the song at the correct speed most of the time. A few times I have had to exit the program completely, then come back in. This never happened before the upgrade from 3.2.

I use a Lenovo T62 laptop as a dedicated music server. Most of the library is stored on the local hdd, but some is on a USB hard drive. This happens on either local or USB stored files. Most of the files are flac 16/44 ripped with eac. I have some 256 bps or higher mp3s. OS is Windows 7 (32) with sp 1 and all the latest updates. I have 3gbs of RAM installed and task manager shows about 50% RAM usage so I don't think that's the issue. I use the winaspi output plugin.

Has any one else experienced this ? I searched this forum for slow playback but only came up with an unrelated post from 2004. I have been a happy MM user since I ditched my cd player for a computer audio setup 18 months ago.

Thank you in advance.

I think there are some topics that cover this and may have more helpful solutions.

I'd suggest to try checking the Audio Device (make sure it is set to your sound card) or switch Output Plugin under Tools > Options > Output Plug-ins. You also want to make sure your sound cards drivers are up to date. Also see: http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... ticleid=90
