Thread Creation Failed: Out of Memory

Postby earwax1uk » Thu Aug 23, 2012 7:33 am

Hi,

When I open Media Monkey, its memory usage quickly rises to 3.7GB (I have 6GB installed) and then promptly crashes with an 'out of memory' error - mediamonkey.exe must then be ended by the task manager.
This happens consistently every time I open Media Monkey, even though I have been using it for many months before this without problems. I have tried reinstalling but to no avail so I have installed the debug version and will submit a bug report referencing this thread. I have looked on the forums for a similar issue, but I can't see anything...

System details: Win 7 x64, Intel Core i7, 6GB Ram, 3HDDs (1.5TB total with atleast 40GB free on each)

Thanks

Do you have Folder Monitoring (under File > Add/Rescan Files), auto-analyze volume (under Tools > Options > Volume Leveling) and/or Auto-Organize (under Tools > Options > Auto-Organize) enabled?

Yes to Folder Monitoring and Auto-Analyse, no to Auto-Organise.

I suggest disabling Auto-Analyze and see if that resolves the issue. If it does re-enable it and send a debug log (step 4b) to support capturing this memory leak: viewtopic.php?t=69

Turning off Auto-Analyse and Folder Monitoring hasn't fixed the issue. I uploaded the debug log to:
Code: Select all
https://rapidshare.com/files/4217423713/MediaMonkey.elf

The debug log is from when Auto-Analyse and Folder Monitoring were switched off.

Send the log from step 4b to support: http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... &_a=submit

Are you sure that you do not Monitor/scan folder with mixed music and hundreds of pictures?

if Answer is YES, than you need to disable Tools -> options -> Library -> Scan folders for artwork.

I have about 9k music files in about 1.5k folders, most of the folders have one picture for the album art, some have two, some have none... I have disabled folder monitoring completely and I still get the memory leak every time upon opening.

I cannot submit a ticket to support as I cant log-in. It says I need to register, even though I have already registered... The login for the support will be the same as this forum account, correct?

windows 7 has ablity to see unlimited amount of ram now.
as much as you can put on the motherboard is what you can use.

in reguard to your issue.
i am thinking the ram is not the memory it is using up. but it is instead using the virtual ram. go in to the properties of the my computer icon and find how to adjust the virt memory / page file. what ever its called in win 7 now. you might just be having the trouble that windows can't adjust the virt memory fast enough its self. so making the amount save on the hd larger your self might fix it. try making 2000 min. and 2005 max. see if that works. you of course need to have that much free space on the hard drive.. if you are using multiple hd's in your system set up smaller swap files on each hd. this will make the total size over the amount needed by having it on all the hd's and it also allows the windows system to gather the song file in the hd's swap file before it sends it to the player on the main hd. helping cut back on lag time.
if there is any on your faster win 7.
