Hi,
I'm currently running MM 4.1.0.1692 on windows 7 and have the same problem every time MM updates itself. Namely it resets all of the settings I have painstakingly set, back to the default ones.
This may be a feature but I consider it a bug.
Are other people experiencing this?
Is there a simple way of exporting/importing my settings so I don't lose everything each time the program updates?
Thanks,
James

This shouldn't happen. Do you run a full or portable install? Also make sure you're installing in the same directory.

Aloha Lowlander,
Thanks for the quick reply. I'm running a full install. The Autoupdate feature seems to have correctly installed the new files in the original directory:
E:\Music\1_Tools\MediaMonkey
The only other reference I can find to Mediamonkey files are in:
C:\Users\James\AppData\Roaming\MediaMonkey
Which are all dated today (day of auto update).
I guess it is the MediaMonkey.ini file which is in here that I need to backup and can restore if this problem persists.
Could it be choking on the E:/ drive!?

Re: Settings are reset when MM updates (v4.1.0.1692)
1. There is no auto-update feature
2. E:\Music\1_Tools\MediaMonkey ... This is the path where you install MM? Why? If this is a portable or external drive you need to be installing using the "Portable" option during the install.

Re: Settings are reset when MM updates (v4.1.0.1692)
What is the setting under:
Options/General/Check for Updates (When connected)?
I have never had a pop up saying "A new version is available, do you want to install?"
It is only when I have this option selected that MM updates itself and I get the whole new install wizzard dialogue appearing. But I just checked and 4.1.0.1692 is not the last version so my impression is obviously wrong.
E:/ is my external USB media drive. So MM is confused as it thinks it is on a portable device.
I'll try and install on the C:\ drive in full mode and see if it resolves itself.
Thanks for the pointers

Yep that was it.
I copied the folder to the C:/ drive and updated it from there and all the settings remained

All that it does is notify you of a new release. MediaMonkey can't, unfortunately, update itself. So you'll need to download and install the update manually.Zaephod wrote:What is the setting under:
