album art pop-up behavior broken

Post by ZenGeekDad »

In Art/Details panel, if "show file details" is selected (by right-clicking over that panel), you can toggle the view between art-priority (shows only the art) and file details priority (shows both art and file details, ... and if details cover the art, then art shows faded with file details overlaying the art). And, to get the album art to pop up as a full size image, you click in the art/details panel to toggle to art-priority, then double-click on the art. (If you instead double-click on art/details panel while in file details priority, then the pop-up is the file details panel.)

This was acceptable. However, it is now broken.

Currently, the only way I can get the above functions to work, is by sizing-down the art/details panel until file details cover the art. This allows a single-click in art/details panel to toggle between art-priority and file details priority. But, if file details do not cover the art, this toggle DOES NOT WORK. You are stuck forever in file details priority, so you can't double-click to see album art full-size.

There is a work-around, but it is unacceptably cumbersome. The work-around is to resize the art/details window every time you want to toggle to art-priority, to pop up full-size art. Here is why this is a poor work-around. MM4 added the ability to move the art/details panel to the right as a tall column, such that lyrics could be easily viewed without having to open the file details panel. This was a nice enhancement. Now, as a right-side panel, the height of the art/details window is fixed at the full height of the full MM4 window. So, for songs without lyrics, or with average length lyrics, the file details never cover the art work, so you cannot toggle between art-priority and file detail priority. The alternative location of the art/details window is the lower left corner, beneath the media tree. But MM owners buy it for its sophisticated database capabilities. Therefore, our media trees are large, and we require the entire vertical height of that column for just the tree. Further, cramming the art/details window under the media tree means a short window for the lyrics, forcing you to scroll to see them all. Seeing the full lyrics -- with the art/details panel as a full height panel on the right side of MM -- is much preferable.

Single click on Artwork opens Artwork for me. Double click opens Properties (and Artwork if on Artwork).
