MediaMonkey portable won't load as default app in Windows 10
I have a portable installation of MediaMonkey 4.1.10.1778 that I installed to a network drive from a Win 8.1 installation. I've been using this to play music on two different Win8.1 64-bit machines. I recently upgraded one of them to Win10 (64-bit). While I can run MediaMonkey just fine, and can even assign it as the default music app, when I attempt to double-click on an MP3 or right-click and select "Play in MediaMonkey", I get an alert saying, "This app can't run on your PC." Clearly, it can run just fine, but there's something preventing it from launching via file association.
I've tried Tools > Options > OS Integration, but that did not help. My searches indicate that this error is related to 32-bit/64-bit app/os mismatches. Could this have something to do with the MediaMonkey64Helper? Does the file launch command need to be changed to somehow include that?

Did you maybe have the MediaMonkey App (MM8) installed as well and this is what you're trying to run?

Re: MediaMonkey portable won't load as default app in Window
If you're referring to a Microsoft Store MediaMonkey app (Metro, or whatever it's called), I haven't installed anything like that. When I either select it from "Open With...." or as the default application, I select the portable install executable that resides on the network drive. Good thought, though.

It's the only thing I could think of as MediaMonkey runs fine on Windows 10 and I haven't seen anyone else mention this problem.

I think it may be specific to the portable install, as I'm imagining most people aren't using it.

I tried those, too. Well, at least I know it's not limited to my system. That's progress, right?
Re: MediaMonkey portable won't load as default app in Window
I could not replicate the problem. do you have both Portable and regular installed on same PC?

Re: MediaMonkey portable won't load as default app in Window
I had installed a regular version on it a while back, but I uninstalled it prior to switching to the portable version. I looked, and the only MediaMonkey folder left under the Program Files directories contained just an old script file of mine. I deleted the MediaMonkey folder, just in case, but it made no difference.

Re: MediaMonkey portable won't load as default app in Window
This has bizarrely resolved itself. According to Programs and Features, since posting this, I have installed:
VLC Media Player 2.2.1
Kodi 15.2
Cyberlink PowerDVD 15
The Last Tinker: City of Colors (game)
Lumino City (game)
The system has installed:
an Avast Free Antivirus software update
Windows Driver Package - Silicon Labs Software (DSI_SiUSBXp_3_1) USB
Windows Driver Package - Dynastream Innocations, Inc. AND LibUSA Drivers
Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable 11.0.61030
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable 9.0.30729.4148
Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable 12.0.21005
If anyone else runs into this, I hope this helps.
