more on that rusty hosting site ? curious for when i start getting a little more serious on these skins .

rustys making a new site along with the new mm 3 version.
he was going to have it ready on the release of mm 3 but there were and are still so many errors he and the other developers are still trying to get mm 3 working proper, but he has got a new support site up.

also you need to have one more step for your skins, all skins should have their install file of the mmip file when on the new download site. the word used by the developers was Should. taking that as an Need to have. get the skins down first then ask about the mmip its simple though it conssits of an icon. and install ini and an uninstall ini and the skins msz file.
the ini's are wrote for monkey to beable to read them but they are simple for skinners to use.
the mmip file is a zip file. with all those 4 files in. the msz is a zip file with all the mskn and ini files for the skin in. instructions are on the wiki site for install packages.

sounds very similar to creating a final ''package'' for wmp skins . you create a compiled file and can upload it as is or simply change the file extension to read .zip .

as for each file having it's own install, i'm assuming you mean using something like install creator .

man i wish mm was a little more like wmp where you could have a bunch of float skins/mini skins working off the same full skin . would make things easier for me as i have no real interest in skinning for the full skin . ah, no biggie .

took me some time to find what you were replying to there james23. i see it is the post by paulmt on the freeway parking lot on page one of this post.

i been to LA Cal at that time but i did it in a semi truck. not fun any time in one of those. but i was lucky enough to be treated to your best drivers 3 times out there morning noon and night.

i must be the best semi driver around cause i was told i was number one by lots of people each time i was there.

okay i spent some time tweaking this new skin.
before i close it i thought to see if anyone knows anything else that might be put on the player.
i got
all the normal player control buttons.

dual timers + -
date
song lenght
playlist number
number of songs in the playlist
track number on disc
bpm
artist
title
kbps
album art
custom feilds 1 to 5
song format

i don't have much room left but i was wondering if i might have missed any thing?
but i can fit 2 or 3 more text areas on it they might scroll but i don't know what to put in them or what can be put in them.?

okay again another skin? yep i know i said 15 was enough to take care of. but heres one with vumeters in for those that wanted it.
its only for screens that are 1280 wide and 1024 high. if you can make your vertical screen that wide then you can use the skin but i think that would look really small if you did that.
still it is a good skin tried to make it look a little like a stereo unit component.
you have to get it from the mmip site its 3.2 mb's in size i added some icons just the orginal set of them not sure if it works in mm 3.1 yet or not. also tried some other stuff for 3.1.
you might have to change to this skin and then close monkey and reopen monkey. not sure. i have not had to do that as of yet. but the vumeters have 14 images to load. so some might not make it? then again they are smaller then the concert skins av images.
yes before you ask the needle is set to show for each number or line in the vu meter.
left is on left right is on right.

yep that big version number is my way of doing them.
i explained it on my skin's wiki site at monkeys wiki site.
first number is the amount of changes and fixes i did that are major for the skin.
second one is the minor changes.
third one is the times its been posted
last one is the times its been compiled
thanks i was not sure how many would like the retro shelf unit look. the player is the same size as the concert skin i did.
boring skins? where? mine are not boring? monkeys with bongo drums? concert light shows? a jukebox chrome style skin, a truck bumper and a cb radio, fish, startreking monkey, carbonation bubbles in the list view of the blues monkey skin, the musicbrings pub with the three mice carrying a barrel of beer, the different no album art images i try and change on all my skins, none of that showed you a non boring skin? umm i guess i got to try harder?

Compared to my borring skins, for example, it's kind they belong to another world.

No, by borring skins I meant the ones at first look you say "Oh how beautiful" but after a while they just make you depress...

Eyal your skins are not boring just seem to be really good in 3d effects? i don't have any program to do that i have to combine programs to get what i can in the 3d effects. or do a ton and a half of drawing to make it even appear like 3d.

another annoucement.

i have just uploaded to my mmip download site the link is in the first post of this thread.
a new zip file thats right a zip file but this one is mostly for skinners.
this is my zip file called
skinning resource images.

they are some of my png files i used and did not use in the skins i made. basicly the only ones that would likely be of use to any other skinners? it also has all 14 images for the VU Meter Avs effect so if you want to make a skin and use the vu meter its already done for you just use those images. you'll have to make the adjustments in the skin's mskn file if you use it cause most the skins default to 10 images, the vu meter has 14 so you will need to add the extra band images in the visual.. object in the mskn. but you advanced skinners know that already. enjoy
