iPOd, mp4a, podcast and total desaster!

I have an iPod nano, because I have win2000 I didn't even try to hook it up to iTUnes, for obvious reasons.

So I went with media Monkey, put a shitload of tracks on the iPod and, two days later, thursday, I became adventurous and downloaded my first podcast, which came in mp4a format. listened to it and suddenly everything went bad.

First thing that happened was that the cover pictures I had vanished and then I noticed that I couldn't access the tracks any longer, including the podcasts. I can, however, access the data if the iPod is hooked up to the computer, I can listen to tracks that I have definitely no longer stored on my hd.

I thought maybe the problem was that I had downloaded the video podcast (there were two and I didn't remember) and the other mp4a tracks on my iPod nano had rebelled against this. yes? I deleted all mp4a tracks and the damn podcast. now I have only mp3s on the iPod and its still not working.

I thought about trying to reset it but I can't find an option in Media Monkey to do that for me.

What do I do???

Please, please, please help.

If you search the forums you will notice that you are not the only one. Also you will notice that iTunes do not support Win2k along with few Apple replies where they stated that they will not check Device Compatibility issues with iTunes unsupported Windows versions. I do not have Win2k and iPod to test with, so that I can't contact Apple personally to confirm these claims and replies. I'm not so sure what we can do, but anything could be possible in future versions (without promises).

Yes, that win2K/iTunes thing is well known to me, which is why I didn't even try. As I said. How is that answer related to my question?

You can't reset an iPod from within MM, the only way to do it is using iTunes. Perhaps you should just try deleting all the music from the device and re-synching it.

I have had many issues with using my Ipod classic with MM. I can usually sync to it once or twice but after that it gets all wonky. I use Itunes to manage my podcasts as well and am at the point of abandoning pod casts all together.

I usually have to go back to Itunes and restore the database, sync my pod casts then go get my music from MM. This is a long process and a pain in the but.

Don't get me wrong but I love MM. That said this part of it makes me hate it. I think they have really dropped the ball on this and I am as well stuck trying to figure this out.

It seems that when I do incremental syncings the database gets messed up. The songs will stop playing half way through, or skip all together.

Anyway I am at a loss as well. But if you start the process from Itunes then go to MM and then sync it is usually clean and works ok. I used to sync daily as I would randomize my playlists for fun. So it is not so much fun but I do have my music...

My only big complaint with MM other than it reports the track lengths incorrectly.
