Podcast download directory

Post by Neil Parks »

I suggest taking a page from Ziepod's playbook. Download the MP3 files to a directory of incomplete files, and then move the completed downloads to the directory of complete files.

Other types of internet downloading software such as uTorrent, Star Downloader, etc. do something along this line also.

So what exactly are the advantages of doing it that way? Also, how can you be sure that isn't already the case?

To answer the second question first, I had the target directory open in Gyula's Navigator, a freeware file manager similar to the old Norton Commander. It updates the file size display in real time as the file grows.

Advantage: If the download stops short for any reason--e.g. the internet connection goes down--the target directory won't be cluttered with incomplete files.
