MM won't start

Postby homersheineken » Fri Sep 05, 2008 5:44 pm

When I try to start MM, it just won't start. THe logo comes up, but the program just won't finish loading. Winamp works ok, but I much prefer MM over it.

The processor goes to 100% and it just won't finish loading.
XP SP2
1GB ram.
20GBHD

The MP3 are on a USB drive. Now this works ok with my other laptop, but not with this one. Any ideas?
Thanks!

This is a common problem when you have a corrupted Quicktime installation. Go to C:\Program Files\MediaMonkey\Plugins and rename d_iphone.dll to off.d_iphone.dll.

OMG!!! you're awesome!! Thanks!!!

If i copy the /MediaMonkey/Data/Mediamonkey.mdb to the new computer, will it then work ok on the new computer (assuming the drive letter is the same?)

No, that's the file for the old mediamonkey 2 database. To backup and recover a MediaMonkey 3 database, see: http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... ticleid=65

Ok new problem (but this isn't that big of a deal). Now I can't play ma4 files. What is the solution? I'm scared to install quicktime ;)

You'll have to install Quicktime, install Quicktime lite (google it), or buy the aac/m4a encoder/decoder that MediaMonkey put out: http://www.mediamonkey.com/addons/input-output/

You might want to try QuickTime Alternative.

Wow! I've spent two hours trying to figure out what was wrong. I had uninstalled Quicktime earlier today. Thanks!

Don't know how to...?

Use Windows explorer.. I'm not sure how else to explain it. Finding files is a very basic computer function...
