Hi, guys, today I'm releasing Lyrics Viewer 2.1 beta, with some small enhancements. This beta release is intended for testing only. If you don't like to take risks (pussy!) or if you're still using MM v2.x or v3.0.x, then this release is not for you! If you want to help me with the tests, go for it, but first PLEASE READ KNOWN ISSUES BELOW!

What's new?

2.1beta: Feb 22, 2009
- Enhanced: LV now supports borderless mode, thanks to a trick by ZvezdanD. Big thanks, mate!
You can enable/disable this mode in LV option sheet. You can see how it look like in screenshot above this post.
- Enhanced: Vertical scrollbar appears only when necessary. When lyrics text is short, scrollbar will not be shown.
- Added: link for auto-update, in Extensios dialog. Thus, subsequent versions of LV will be automaticaly detected, downloaded and installed.

Known issues

- To be able to hide titlebar in borderless mode, this script needs MM v3.1 or newer. This means I will no longer support LV development for MM 2.x. All those of you still using MM v2.x or MM v3.0.x should stick with Lyrics Viewer 2.0 or upgrade MM.

- For borderless mode to work properly, I had to put HMTL back in quirks mode. This means we can have some inconsistency in HTML formating for some existing themes. I tested all build-in themes and all 3rd party themes I could find in this Forum. The only one I find out having real problems is Forum Noir, but I'll investigate it further and, when I find the cause of incompatibility, I'll get in touch with DreadM to provide a new compatible version.

- In order to auto-hide vertical scrollbar, we need to add this code to style.css file, in each theme:

Code: Select all

body {
       overflow:auto;
       }
Themes have a body { } section already, so you only need to add the overflow:auto; line.
I already added this line to all built-in themes. 3rd party ones will need to be updated, either by their creators or by users themselves. On the other hand, it won't hurt if you leave they as they are...

- All of you who have personal/custom LV themes, please test them with this new version and report any problems here.
- I also want your opinion on this point: borderless mode should be ON by default? Or should be OFF?

That's it
Oh, of course, get it here. :)

Gege:

Will you still offer the option to download and install the script manually?

EDIT: Borderless mode does not appear to work with Eyal's Cafe Moka theme.

You can still install manually from a .mmip file, just rename it to .zip and extract.

No that's what I mean. What I mean is, if the user prefers to download the installer herself and install it at her convenience (and save all copies along with previous versions), will it still be available to download instead of using the update feature in the Extensions Option Sheet.

Ohh. Well the file still has to be hosted somewhere, so I don't see why Gege would take the link down.

Of course, it will be available for manual download. Auto-update is a feature for convenience of those who already have script installed and just want to be sure their scripts are up-to-date. Hopefully, MM add-ons repository will be up soon :D and this will become very common.

Works fine for me. Can you post a screenshot, please? And, what's your IE version?

Here's the same track with the Blue Quote Lite theme:

Oh, sorry, nyn. I knew I forgot something....
So here we go for a little explanation.
In order to auto-hide vertical scrollbar, we need to add this code to style.css file, in each theme:

Code: Select all

body {
       overflow:auto;
       }
Themes have a body { } section already, so you only need to add the overflow:auto; line.
I already added this line to all built-in themes. 3rd party ones will need to be updated, either by their creators or by users themselves.

I also think it should be off by default.

Is it worth?

Post by gege »

One more question, guys (and gal -- can't forget nyn...)
Is it worth to add an icon in main toolbar, just like MonkeyRok?

Image
It was pretty fast to implement* and, at least for me, it has been quite useful, now borderless mode got rid of the 'X' in titlebar...

* Although designing the icon took a lot
