How I got Milkdrop 2.0c to work with MediaMonkey 3.1x:

I can confirm that the more recent versions of Milkdrop2 do not work with MediaMonkey, even if you edit the INI to include the vis_milk2.dll. I assume they put some code into the visualization to check for WinAMP (oh well).

But if you use the copy included with v5.51 it does work.

You do not need to edit the MediaMonkey INI file, the December 20th, 2007 copy of vis_milk2.dll will be recognized by MediaMoney, and show up in the Visualization options.

there is also an new version of geiss1. Only copy files to work.
with support for all resolutions...

Update it in mm would be n1.

I got it working, but it won't change the presets (it keeps on using a lame one), when I try to change manually, VisHelper.exe crashes....

Any suggestions??

THANK YOU SO MUCH for those great instructions for getting Milkdrop 2 to work with Mediamonkey!!!
Unfortunately, apparently Nullsoft has found a way to remove much web access to the older winamp version you mentioned...
Fortunately, however, since I always keep my old downloaded preinstall files, (and I've been a winamp user for years), I had version 5.5.0 in my archive and I just uninstalled my more recent winamp and reinstalled the older version, and following your instructions I had no problems at all getting Milkdrop 2 into MediaMonkey!!!
(I did not have to edit the Mediamonkey.ini file, btw) and both versions of Milkdrop are in my visualizations list.

Now that I have it working it's pretty impressive. It's a shame that Ryan Geiss sold the rights to this one to Nullsoft as it really is good. However, it's kind of hard to fault him given what little market profit-wise there is for this sort of product. I can't imagine actually paying much, if anything, for a visualization app. The only way I'd consider it is if I could somehow get MediaMonkey working on my main TV in my family room and I've yet to have any real luck with that. Even then it's a curiosity app that doesn't get used very much.

FYI: Using winamp version 5.5.0 does NOT work!
(I was so excited to try it with what I had - I spoke too soon... SORRY ABOUT THAT)
But once I got a copy of Winamp 5.5.1 - everything works perfectly!
(as it was earlier explained regarding making milkdrop 2 work in Mediamonkey 3.1)
