Also having trouble since the Itunes upgrade (windows 7 / 64 bit).
Deleting the .dll mentioned let media monkey start but it still doesn't seem to play anything.

I'm not sure why it's using the iphone .dll ? I don't use media monkey to manage my ipod and I disabled the plugin previously.
If it's for m4a playback maybe it should be using a different library it's not a proprietary format AFAIK.

I'm in the same boat. This is very frustrating because MM sounds a whole lot better than iTunes and more importantly, who knows what else has been screwed up with the latest installation from Apple.

Too bad there's no Mac commercial stating how badly it screws up Windows programs.

Re: iTunes 9.0 Compatibility: Going back to iTunes 8.2.1

How to go back to iTunes 8.2.1 for Windows

I've tested this method on two of my computers (both 32 bit XP), including one with a fairly large library in iTunes, and seems to work okay.

1. Deallocate computer--in iTunes, choose "Store" -> "Deallocate Computer". Follow the prompts until you get the deallocation confirmation message, and then exit iTunes.
2. Uninstall iTunes. (Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel)
3. Uninstall QuickTime. (Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel)
4. Download iTunes 8.2.1 for Windows here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL928
5. Find the iTunes Library.itl file. On Windows XP, it should be under My Documents\My Music\iTunes. Delete it.
6. Now look for a subdirectory called Previous iTunes libraries. Open the directory, and find a recent library backup file. Copy it to the My Documents\My Music\iTunes directory and rename it to iTunes Library.itl
7. Install iTunes 8.2.1.
8. If you get a message that the iTunes Library.itl file was created with a more recent version of iTunes, repeat steps 5 and 6, with a slightly older file.
9. Open MediaMonkey and test it with an .m4a track.

fyi MediaMonkey 3.1.2.1266 has been posted to the beta forum. It fixes iTunes 9.0 compatibility. iPod 3.1 firmware compatibility is still being worked on.

Thanks. Installed beta and ran following quick tests (all successful).
- Played AAC track with QT 7.5.5
- Installed QT7.6.4 (Without iTunes)
- Played MP3 & AAC track
- Synced to Sansa Clip

Have not tested CD burning, etc, yet, but the major problems with QT7.6.4 seem to be fixed.

Beta didn't fix anything at my end, i still get the same error and i've even un-installed all apple software except quicktime...

I only use the FLAC codec for my music and thats all i play on MM.

Two things to try.
1)Get the QT7.6.4 Without iTunes installer. Remove QT and clean install QT7.6.4.
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/

If that does not work, then
2)Rename d_iPhone.dll to d_iPhone.dll.old

That should avoid the problem for the moment.

Yeah.. I am pretty much done with iTunes. This will be the third time I've had to unbork my album artwork. I have a ~45GB music library, and for some reason iTunes screws it up one way or another every time.

If only I could nuke the OS on my 1G Touch and put something not quite as annoying on it.

To solve the iTunes 9 issue, (I won't upgrade my firmware, it seems a waste for 1st gen touch), I have completely removed any trace of Apple, Inc. software from my system. MM works fine now, I just have to go read up on the "how to sync an ipod without installing iTunes" thread.

Great product =)

Rusty, where can I locate the beta forum that allows me to download the beta version 3.1.2 that fixes the iTunes problem? I deleted the plugin related to d_iPhone and can at least play MM with my mp3's for now

Just another reason why I hate Apple. I refuse to buy any of their iPod products. I wish I didn't have to install Quicktime. Another thing I don't like about Quicktime is that installs Apple Software Update without asking, which I don't need.

I had to uninstall the latest version of Quicktime as it was causing MediaMonkey to crash when I went to play a song.
Hope a fix comes soon.

A HINT for all of you: Keep an eye on Quick Time Alternative and QTLite.

After that doo not worry too much unless you must install Apple QuickTime full package. It is Working on my PCs for years without an Hiccups, even you can register PRO if you have it.

I just want to emphasize something said earlier:

This may not help you if MM won't even start, but it cured my inability to play M4a & AAC files. I got rid of QuickTime completely, installed QT_Lite 2.90 and now MM 3.1.1 is running fine again.

Careful if these two programs update to the current QT codecs, though, they may start to cause the same issue.

Thanks, Peke!
