all right, thank you for taking the time to guide me...
I had mistaken v2 and v1 and thought I should have a panel too. My bad, of course.
Many thanks for the script! I'll now define my categories & everything... :D

Ray, I just discovered eCustom 2 and I'm loving it.
I used to use EditCustomField script for the same purpose, but eCustom is much better.

I have three wishes, though:
1) Add [;] and [; ] delimiters (I know, it's easy. I already did it, in fact. I just want it to be "official")

2) Display a confirmation dialog before deleting a category.
I accidentally deleted one of them, by choosing Delete > ... menu, instead of Edit > ... :(

3) When a group of tracks is selected and they have one of the fields with the same value,
that value should be 'ticked' in eCustom context menu.
Example: My Custom5 field stands for Language. So my wish is if I select a bunch of songs with
Language field already filled with, say, "English", then "English" should be ticked in "eCustom > Language > ..." menu.
Of course this is a cosmetic enhancement, so I think it is worth only if you find it easy to implement.

gege,

Yes, I can implement #1 and #2.

I don't quite understand #3. What do you mean by 'ticked' ?

If I select 3 tracks and custom5 has English,French,English what is the result?

'Ticked' means there should be a check mark there.

More importantly thought, if I select 3 tracks and custom5 has English,French,English what is the result?

or any other combinations like you select 3 tracks and two of them have English and the other is empty?

show me as many examples as you would expect and what the results should be, ie what is ticked.

In EditCustomField* script it works like this:
- If all selected tracks have that specific field filled AND they have the same value, than the check mark is shown, to indicate this condition. In any other case, it behaves exactly as eCustom does now, i.e., just menu items are shown.

But remember, this is just a cosmetic enhancement, as I said before. If you think it isn't worth to implement, there's no problem at all.
And I just realized that there's additional complications, in case we have multiple values already set (Example: Soul; R&B in Genre field). What to do? Show both items with check marks? Show no check mark at all? I'm really not sure... **

Anyway, big thanks for your attention.

Fake edit:
* I finally found the link to EditCustomField, which I was using til I found eCustom.
There's a screenshot to illustrate the way it works.
You'll see its functionality is almost the same as eCustom, except for the fact that there's no way to edit categories, you must create ONE COPY of the script for each field and the list of items is written directly in scripts code. Also, grouping and genre aren't supported.

Fake edit 2:
** Now, looking at EditCustomField screenshot, we can see it in fact checks both items, when there's two values in a field.

I've implemented the first two requests. Good ideas and no problems implementing it. #3 is a really good idea as well. My approach to eCustom wasn't considering that so it may be difficult to implement without re-architecting and rewriting so I'll have to give it a lot of thought. I should be able to post the new version later today or tomorrow.

Sorry for the late response. I just found out I only have version 2.1, not 2.2
Anyway, you can get it here.
