1288 - Aero Peek slow
I have noticed for the last few builds that Aero Peek is rather slow to show anything other than a spinning busy circle. It takes a few minutes on average for it to show the album art. Is this expected?

Re: 1288 - Aero Peek slow
Hi,
I can't reproduce this in 1288 (skinned / unskinned / maximized / minimized / out of focus / etc). Can you give any more specifics re. when the problem occurs?
Anyone else seeing this problem?
thx.

Re: 1288 - Aero Peek slow
In Build 1288, I am using windows 7 x64 and I cannot even see it in aero peek.
Shows in alt-tab with a representation of a cd with a mm icon.

Wishmaster,
I haven't heard of any reports until now of MM not appearing at all in aeropeek. What do you see when you hover the cursor over the MM icon in the taskbar?

Re: 1288 - Aero Peek slow
Here is how I see it.
- I open MM
- I press play
- I minimize MM to taskbar
- I mouseover the taskbar icon to see album art and controls, but all I see is spinning busy circle for a couple of minutes.
This happened for a few minutes on the last few beta builds. I installed 1288 last night and I think I see a bit of an improvement in the length of time it takes for the Aero Peek window to not be busy.
What kind of times is everyone else seeing before the Aero Peek window is no longer busy? Is it immediate?

Re: 1288 - Aero Peek slow
I just timed it on build 1288. It took 2 minutes and 45 seconds before anything showed up in the Aero Peek window.
I should add that once it finally appears, there are no more problems with it within the same session of MM. if I close MM and restart it, the problem starts over.

Mine is available immediately, even after switching back and forth between tasks.gpzbc wrote:

Re: 1288 - Aero Peek slow
I recorded the sequence to a screencast.
In this screencast, it took approx 1 minute and 30 seconds for the aero peek to show the album art. So there appears to be some fluctuation in times. Like I said earlier, I clocked 2.75 minutes, and I have noticed times in excess of that, but have not officially clocked it.
Here is the screencast. http://screencast.com/t/MThmNDU4ND Be sure to scroll down so that the taskbar is visible.

Re: 1288 - Aero Peek slow
gpzbc,
Can you try see if this occurs in each of the following scenarios? I can't reproduce this at all:
-using the default skin
-running in skinless mode
-running as admin/not admin
Thanks.

Re: 1288 - Aero Peek slow
I tried it with Vitreous Blue as the skin (that is default, right?). After 6 minutes of spinning, I gave up. Aero Peek didn't work at all.rusty wrote:-using the default skin
rusty wrote:-running in skinless mode
I tried skinless mode and I gave up after 3 minutes of spinning.
returned to Spotify-B skin that was used in original bug report.rusty wrote:-running as admin/not admin
1st time, right-click --> run as administrator - it took about 30 seconds for the aero peek window to show album art.
2nd time, right click --> run as administrator - I gave up after 3 minutes of waiting.
In all of the tests, I had a Firefox window open, and minimized to taskbar.
I can't seem to pinpoint the cause, but it is definitely happening.

Re: 1288 - Aero Peek slow
I just figured out something. I found that pressing stop, then start from within the aero peek window will cause the album art to show as expected.
Using the original Spotify-B skin, here is my sequence.
- I start MM
- I minimize to taskbar
- Aero Peek shows spinning
- I press stop from within aero peek window
- I press start from within aero peek window.
- Aero Peek window shows album art as expected.
The same sequence is not true when using the pause button instead of the stop button. Spinning continues with pause button.
I know it's not much, but I hope that helps.

I also have no success in replicating this.

Re: 1288 - Aero Peek slow
I know this bug is already elusive, but it still occurs in 1290.

Anybody else seeing this? At this point I'm inclined to write it off as a problem specific to gzbc's system.
