For some reason when I try to install the latest version of the Scrobbler (1.0.2.22) on MM3.2 I get an error saying Product Installation Error. If I check the extensions after this, Last.FM Scrobbler 1.0.2.22 is listed but the Options button is greyed out and I can't enter my login details. Anyone know a fix for this?

Re: Scrobbler dll problem

Post by Susie »

hi there,

i have just got a new laptop, and so downloaded media monkey straightaway. next day i re-downloaded scrobbler from last.fm, but it's not recording my MM tracks.

The problem seems to be in where to place/download the .dll thingy. Any help, preferrably step by step, and in small words would be greatly appreciated!!!

thanks

After seeming to fix itself (see http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... =2&t=45078), my scrobbler isn't working again.

It stopped working on Jan 1, so I would presume it's some sort of date issue, but that's a complete guess...

MM3.2.0.1294, Last.fm Scrobbler v1.0.2.22, Win7 x86, GMT-5 time, I changed my date format as suggested previously in this thread, and I still can't get it working.

I tried changing my password to something else, and it gives me an error. I can log in to last.fm fine and the "now playing" feature works perfectly, it just won't scrobble the song.

Hi all,
I'm running MM3.2 & LastFM Scrobbler, & it doesn't work because the user I use has no administration rights. Is there any way to have the scrobbler working anyway ?

hi folks,

I was having the same issue as has been mentioned here regarding the tracks being shown as playing in last fm, but not scrobbled. That was 6 hours ago, and i event installed itunes as i couldnt work it out!

Thankfully however i revisted this forum once more and have solved the prob so 1st up, many thanks. If anyone is having problems then as it mentions earlier, check that the date format is the same in the bios as it is on your system. 6 hours ago i read that the time/date was the problem for some people, and so checked the bios. It was the same date and time though i noticed my system was uk and the bios must have been set to u.s, as the month and day was switched. I didnt know how to change this in bios and wasnt sure if that was the issue anyway, so finally deciced to try itunes (last resort as am gold user of mm) ..incidentally it was the traktor integration that made me try it again...and the lack of support for mp3 players that made me return :)... anyway i'm glad i did as came back read more on this forum and then tried setting the system to u.s, which switched around the date and instantly the scrobbling was recorded :)

Hope that helps someone else, and if anyone knows how to set the bios clock to uk, then please let us know. It looks like 3rd may 2010 as opposed to march on my screen now, which could cause potential confusion in late night studio sessions :)

@MrReck
Bios is always in US :( due the standard with BIOS software Manufacturers. I personally have Serbian Time and Date format on Windows (along it is written in Serbian) so it should not make difference as it always worked for me. Problem lies somewhere else with how last.fm and its way on how it interprets what is sent (Last.fm uses UNIX TIME FORMAT).

FYI both Now Playing and Submissions uses same format so if one is working and other do not than problem is elsewhere.

Thanks for your reply peke. Just to clarify i changed the time and date format in control panel / region & language and set this to united states instead of uk. This definitly solved the problem as have just changed it back to uk and again the song was showing in last fm now playing, but not scrobbled when it moved to next track. I then changed it back (was even in mid song) and it scrobbled / added the track to my last fm history.

While i dont know anymore than this, it does seem to have a direct effect and so i wonder if the findings on this forum could help with the development of the next update in order for people to not have to change anything (again apologies if this has been said previously before). Even if its not the solution in terms of whats happening behind the scenes, i think these things should definitly be on the page where people dload the last fm scrobbler as it may save other people going to last resorts like itunes :) I got out just in time thanks to returning to earlier posts on this forum, but like anything it can be after hours of reading / searching forum posts, and trying other options, so they may help others too, at least until the cause becomes apparent.

P.s Many thanks for your work. Being a dj / music digger, I've spent a lot of time on cultivating a huge music collection and so was really grateful to find media monkey last year and all the people who evolve it. All the other options are much less flexible so much respect.

This is strange.

Anyway I added http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=6293 so that we can test, confirm and fix the issue.

Nice one Peke. I just had a new thought which im wondering if it would affect. After installing media monkey, i created a new admin profile, and deleted my other user profile (also admin) and copied over the my documents folder to the new profile. I installed the last fm plug in afterwards, but wonder if this would affect things? Let me know if you need me to try anything.

All the best

Why this plugin doesn't scrobble in the middle of track like official one?

Because it scrobbles when the play count in MM increases.
