not showing song duration / length

media monkey is not showing for all the song in the library the information song "duration". so when i generate playlists, this has the effect that the total playlisttime is generated only from the files with the duration length indicated. it doesnt seem to have something to do with the filetype because the information is missing in mp3 as in other formats. has anybody an idea whats the problem?

Do the tracks with the wrong play time play in MM? Perhaps the files are corrupted somehow?

no theres no problem with playing the songs. everything works.
in fact im going to play music on a friends pardy for a couple of hours and i would like to know how long my playlist is. at the moment it shows only the duration of every 5th or 6th song...

My guess is that MM doesn't like something about the files. Perhaps you should check them with another program (Windows explorer, mp3 tag, WMP, Winamp, etc.) and see if they can display the play time.

thanks again. mp3tag shows the play time. so does itunes... isnt there a way to tell mm to analyse the files again?

You could try to remove them from the library and re-add them. If that doesn't work, you might want to send a sample file to the MM support team so they can see if its something they can fix in MM.

and in the end it was so easy... just followed your advice and removed everything and readded it. problem solved. thanks

Hello, I have the same problem with MM4 version, instead almost 85 percent of my songs do not show any time length at all, even though they all show in Itunes and other programs fine etc.
So I cannot tell actual time length of any playlists really. With almost 4 thousand songs etc, what is the best way to re-add them to library without messing up my many many playlists order, as well as not messing up or having to redo hundreds of song title changes/adjustments made, or having a bunch duplicate tracks etc too? Any advise appreciated.Thks!!!

Not really possible as tracks are removed from the Playlist on removal from Library.

1) First thing to try is to Rescan with the option to Update tags enabled and changed timestamp disabled under Tools > Options > Library
2) If that fails you can export all Playlists (Tools > Scripts) and then remove and rescan files (including the exported Playlists). You may want to backup the DB prior to this (in case something goes wrong) and be aware that AutoPlaylists are exported as static Playlists.
