Filter

Postby dypsis » Tue May 04, 2010 3:28 am

OK. I created the filter in MediaMonkey using Path/Filename and called it "Albums".
It seems to have worked in MediaMonkey, but when I select "Albums" in Advanced Report it display no results. :cry:

@gpzbc - thanks for confirming those bugs have been squashed. Can you provide a screenshot to show the problem you are having with the split mode please? A picture's worth a thousand words! :)

@dypsis - a filter is definitely the best way to limit what tracks appear in the report. A-Z corresponds to your drive letters - if you have music spread across muliple drives you can set the drive type for each drive and use <MediaIcon> to display the relevant image.

I have tried to use filters (Path/Filename). MediaMonkey works as expected with filters, but once I select the filter in Advanced Report, I get zero results.

Which is what I thought but when I go there all I see is this:

Checking my extensions it shows as being installed:

So what now? :(

Edit: Is my scripts.ini supposed to have an entry for this because mine doesn't? If so, what should it be?

Trouble is, I downloaded the installer, ran it, MM said it installed OK (3.2.0.1294) but where do I find it in the menus to run?
File > Create Reports does not have it listed, neither does Tools > Scripts

Partial update, after running the install nothing was visible in MM but a .vbs file was in the scripts folder, so I edited the scripts.ini file to include
[AdvancedReport]
FileName=AdvancedReport.vbs
ProcName=AdvancedReport
Order=6
DisplayName=Advanced Report
Description=Advanced Report in HTML
Language=VBScript
ScriptType=1

and now it seems to be working.

Are you certain the filter is valid? Can you activate the filter in your MM library and confirm that only the filtered albums/tracks are showing? Aside from that, I am stumped. :-?

Ok, here are some screenshots.
Image
This is a screenshot from Bob Dylan's artist page. It includes "Fear and Loathing" by Various Artists because Bob Dylan is the artist on track #9.

Image
However, you will also see that Perry Como is the artist on track #11, but he does not show up in the lists of artists because my library does not contain any other albums by Perry Como.

Image

And just for one more example, Tom Jones is the artist on track #3 of the same "Fear and Loathing" album. And as you can see, "Fear and Loathing" shows up under the Tom Jones artist page because I have one other album by Tom Jones in my collection.
Image

I hope that helps.

Good! But it was massedgadget that figured out the fix. I just found his/her post.
Glad you got it working.

So which filter do I use? I am struggling to understand the way they work.

Property: Path/Filename
Type: Music
Condition: Contains

Then put the path to my album folders in the "Value" section?

Dypsis, I imagine a little trial and error will yield the results you are looking for. Set up the filter in MM, then select that filter and verify that it is indeed filtering out all unwanted tracks/albums. If not, go back in to "manage filters," then right click on the filter to edit it, and tweak it accordingly. Once you have the filter configured properly in MM, just point Advanced Report at that filter.
Good luck!

Trixmoto, I wanted to bump this thread again to let you know that I responded to your request for screenshots. There has been a lot of activity on this thread lately so it is possible you missed it. Or it is possible you have just been busy working on one of the other amazing scripts you offer. :D
I don't mean to pester. I just wanted to make sure you didn't miss it.

Thanks, I did spot the screenshots and I've put the issue on my list. Unfortunately I'm very busy with work at the moment so there's going to be a bit of a pause of my scripting, but hopefully it won't be a long one.
