Help writing new script: open setlist in notepad

Postby mkny13 » Wed Sep 22, 2010 11:29 am

I listen to a lot of live music, mostly from bt.etree or Live Music Archive. I'm getting better about tagging stuff as I add it to my permanent collection but I still have a bunch of untagged tracks. I find that I frequently need to right click on a track, a navigate to Find More From Same Folder in Explorer, then find the setlist text file and open that. Anyone interested in helping me write a script to automate that down to a keypress/shortcut/first level menu option? I have some rudimentary coding ability--mostly with Autohotkey over past couple years--but never done a MM script before. Any and all help would be appreciated.

PS--one day, I'd love to make something (or better yet, use something that someone else makes!) to automate pulling track names from setlists. I know mp3tag can do it, but you have to massage the hell out of the text file first for it to work correctly. Even something semiautomatic would help: select a bunch of files and fire it up, it could prompt you to select the title of each track in turn from the setlist, automatically update the track title and jump to the next.

To quickly go to explorer's folder, try the script Toolbar_MoreFromTheSame:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=6663

To import tag data from text file, use this script:

The first one link doesn't help--I already have that functionality at my finger tips. What I need is a bit of regex wizardry to take the extra step of opening anything that looks like setlist.txt, info.txt, or <show date>.txt automatically.

2nd link is nice, thanks. But it doesn't do anything that mp3tag doesn't already do--I wish there was also a way work an auto-copy-paste GUI field populator like I described. Oh well.

Thanks for replying.
