TriState selection on playlist, selected for syncing

Postby toof4st » Thu Jul 14, 2011 6:00 pm

I have a root playlist which I check to sync to my device and along with all child playlists which also get synced to my device.
If I add a new child playlist which I want syncing to my device, then I have to go into the Auto-Sync list, uncheck the root playlist, and then reselect the root playlist, in order for this new child playlist to be synced.
I understand why you have done it like you have, but it would be nice to have a 2nd type of checkbox (or a tristate / dropdown etc), which says always sync any child playlists of this node.

Thanks

I too would like to see this feature, it would make syncing so much easier.

I noticed that this feature is in place (in MM4) for Artists: if you check the Artist (or Album Artist) node, then add a new album by the artist, it gets included in the synclist; and this state is shown by a square in the checkbox rather than an X.

Having the same feature for playlists would be pretty useful.

That would be awful, I would constantly need to deselect playlists. It's much better to "fail" to sync items than sync too much.

How would that be awful? It's tristate. It doesn't take away your existing functionality (at least my original request). It says in addition to the current option of only including child playlists that were selected when you originally selected them (which is what you seem to want), my new 3rd state would say, always sync any child of this item.

I'm not sure you got my meaning. I certainly don't want all playlists copied over. But I might, for instance, want a "SynchedAlbums" playlists which has numerous sub-lists, each a fixed list for a particular album. Then "SynchedAlbums" could be checked in the playlist-synch, and every time I create a new album playlist, under the SynchedAlbums playlist node, that album automatically gets synched.
