I want an iphone but refuse to use itunes

So I posted this here because I'm not sure it fits with the "need help with device syncing"

Anyway, I'm thinking about getting an iPhone. My only concern is that I would have to use iTunes.

As I understand, MM can sync my music with an iPhone, but will I still need iTunes for other features (apps and stuff)?? Just the thought of using iTunes is pretty much a deal-breaker.

If you're curious/want to hear me rant: Several years ago, iTunes completely ruined the tags on my entire library because its "auto-organize" feature (to organize audio files into folders) would clip .mp3 filenames at something like 32 characters. Anything longer would be cut off. So I had stuff like "The Beatles - 3 - Across the Univ.mp3". I'm 99.9% sure that I did nothing wrong, and it was just a glitch in the way iTunes functioned. The memories of manually fixing all the titles is a painful one. The only good to come out of the whole ordeal is that I now use MM :)

You will even need iTunes installed for MediaMonkey to be able to sync audio, podcasts and video (MM4).

i know using foobar 2000 u can just get a plugin.you also do not need to have i tunes installed, but you need to install "apple mobile device support.msi" .maybe this would be the same for media monkey? what would media monkey need that foobar doesnt? just a thought

Yes, it seems that with just these components you can do it with MM as well.

Yea theres no way around iTunes for iphone users as of yet, just like how not to long ago the only way to get an iphone was through at&t (that is of course locked).

Even if you can sync to mediamonkey for your iphone you might find yourself not wanting to. iTunes' genius feature is pretty handy and you will want it on your phone. I have a lot of troubles syncing my ipod nano now because I want both my mediamonkey playlists and my itunes genius... It is very frustrating.

I phone is a great piece of kit. All the other good stuff you get will make up for it's shorcomings.

.iTunes is awesome and is a great compliment to the iPhone. You will get used to it, but if u really hate iTunes i dont advise getting an iPhone

You really need to use itunes if you want an iphone...Itunes is cool after all.It's very user friendly. Just buy other phones if you don't like itunes.
