@Pete

MonkeySqueeze does work on 64 bit machines.

Have you run MediaMonkey in administrator mode for the install? MonkeySqueeze will not install correctly if that is the case.

If that is not the issue try a manual install:

1. Go to "monkeysqueezev150110814.mmip" and change the extension to .zip. Extract the contents to a folder using your preferred compression program (winrar, winzip etc ...).
2. In the folder find 3 files; readme.txt, Socket.dll and SocketReg.exe. Copy and paste into a folder and name the folder w3Sockets. Move the folder to the c:\ and then right click on SocketReg.exe and select run as administrator to register Socket.dll.
3. Copy the rest of the files to C:\Program Files (x86)\MediaMonkey\Scripts\Auto or wherever MediaMonkey was installed. Restart MediaMonkey

Let me know how you get on.

Thanks,

Seemed to need a few restarts of MM before it picked up all the settings as they should be - squeezebox didn't appear until changed 127.0.0.1 to the actual of the same PC! Running SB on the same PC as MM so 127.0.0.1 should have worked!!

Thanks again

Well done! Great that it is now working. You are quite right it should have worked. However it is good that MonkeySqueeze gives you the option to change the address and the user guide explains the process for you. Sometimes these anomalies occur with no rhyme or reason. Ah computers, even Airbus are having problems and not all the reasons can be attributed to human error. Then again I prefer errors to happen on my PC and not in an aircraft at 40000 feet.

I hope MonkeySqueeze works for you and thank you for letting me know of your issue and fix.

MonkeySqueeze V2.0.0 Released!

Post by Gingernut63 »

New Version of MonkeySqueeze released! :D

It is suggested that after install, users read the user guide as there are major changes to the operation MonkeySqueeze in this version. The current version of the script is optimised for MediaMonkey 4 and above. It will run on MediaMonkey 3 but the options page will not display correctly. If requested, I could post a version of the script with a cut down options page for use by MediaMonkey 3 users.

Download at: http://www.mediamonkey.com/addons/brows ... eysqueeze/

V2.0.0
- Complete rewrite of the communications code. w3Sockets no longer required
- Can now communicate directly with individual Squeezebox devices
- Can now communicate with NAS devices using Linux and running LMS
- New enable\disable function for MonkeySqueeze
- Complete redesign of the settings page
- Auto play removed

MonkeySqueeze has been pulled from the Addons Site so the new logo can be approved and uploaded. Should only take a couple of hours, apologies for any inconvenience.

Hi,

It's the second evening I'm trying to get it working. It looks so easy.
I have a recent squeezebox radio (7.6.2 soft).
A weak NAS with the music on.
A laptop with the squeezebox server, + Mediamonkey version 4.
I installed the plugin Monkeysqueeze and filled in IP-adres of the laptop (SB server) and port 9000 was OK.
I filled in MAC of the SB Radio.

If I play music with Mediamonkey, norhing is coming out of the Radio.
I do have a connection: if I have music playing from the SB server webinterface on the radio, it gets interrupted if I start music on Mediamonkey. But no music follows on the SB Server, nor SB Radio.

I checked the manual and the only have one question:
>>> "To avoid access issues, make a NAS music folder accessible via a mapped network drive, not
>>> using the network connection. For example a library located at the folder
>>> \\SERVER_NAS\Media\Music on a NAS must be mapped so it looks like the following, X:\Music"

This should be mapped in mediamonkey, not important on the SB Server, right?

Can you help me get this running?

G'day Jos

Quite correct, just use the mapped drive (to the music folder) in MediaMonkey.

Before things get too involved, is MonkeySqueeze enabled on MediaMonkey? The button is located on the toolbar below the main menu. See the user guide for a picture of the button. If it is red then you need to click on it to activate MonkeySqueeze. MonkeySqueeze is enabled when it is turquoise.

Secondly make sure all the "Logitech Media Server on a NAS using Linux" settings on the MonkeySqueeze options page are not enabled.

Failing that, stop Squeezebox Server and restart; Shutdown MediaMonkey and restart; then double check all the settings on the options page.

Let me know how you get on.

Hé Gingernut63,
Thanks for helping out.

options page:
http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/254/mmoptions.jpg/

I do the following:
Start SB Radio.
Play a song A from webinterface of SB Server on my laptop. Song plays on the radio.
Then I start Mediamonkey. The button is turquoise, but I turn it red and back turquoise to be sure.
I start a song in mediamonkey, the song A playing on the Radio gets interrupted. On Mediamonkey, the song B starts normally.
No sounds comes from the SB Radio. On the little screen it says: Current playlist: Nothing

So Mediamonkey does have an effect on the SB Radio. It kills the music :-(
I restarted Mediamonkey + the SB Server + the Radio several times.
Do I need to do something on the SB Server or radio? Because I didn't yet. I thought Mediasqueeze would push the stream over the server in the Radio.
(I did turn off firewall on my laptop and on the router.)

Any Ideas?

G'day Jos

Settings on Options page look fine. Yes comms are partially working. The fact that music stops in Squeezebox Server when music plays in MediaMonkey suggests that. It appears to be having a problem reading the address format of the file??? What OS is on the laptop?

Try these suggestions:

- Download SqueezePlay and make it the default Squeezebox device, using its MAC address(NIC MAC address on Laptop) instead of the radio. Select it in the top right corner of Squeezebox Server. What happens when playing music on MediaMonkey?

- Experiment with the "Logitech Media Server on a NAS using Linux" settings on the bottom of the options page. They are for LMS installed on a NAS so it should not help... but they do modify the file addressing.

- Try MediaMonkey and Squeezebox Server on another computer

Have got to go to work, see how you go with the suggestions, will follow up when I get home.

Hi,

On the laptop I have Windows XP.
I installed SqueezePlay on the same laptop and disconnected the SB Radio. So I used the SqueezePlay as device.
Same reaction. I cuts the music that is playing but doesn't send the stream from Mediamonkey.

I also used a different computer to install Mediamonkey & Monkeysqueeze. Same behaviour again, with the Radio as the Squeezeplay on the first laptop.

Right after installation it I got the error message on enabling monkeysqueeze that there was no songvalue, as described in the manual. After that I loaded a song and on enabling the monkeysqueeze, the music stopped on the Radio (says "Current Playlist nothing"). The music in mediamonkey plays as normal through the speakers of the laptop

I find it strange that enabling (making the icon turquoise) and starting the stream works instantly. I would expect mediamonkey to need some time to connect to the squeezebox server.
Another question: Don't I need to choose a source on the SB Server or SB Radio? Or a stream like a radio? Should I see something from mediamonkey or monkeysqueeze on the interface of the SB Server or SB Radio?

I still don't have a clue.

Thanks for helping me out

@ Jos

Having problems with MonkeySqueeze on one computer is understandable, having problems on two indicates something's amiss with the installation process. I've just installed MediaMonkey 4, MonkeySqueeze V2.0.0, Squeezebox Server 7.6.1 and SqueezePlay on an old PC running XP. MediaMonkey is playing music on the Squeezebox system after entering all relevant info on the options page and directing SqueezePlay to connect to Squeezebox Server, so the setup will work on XP. :)

More suggestions as follows:

-Uninstall MonkeySqueeze as per user guide and then when re-installing, deselect "install for current user only". On Vista/Win7 run MediaMonkey in Administrator mode before installing MonkeySqueeze.

-What can also cause this issue is if you have not restarted the PC after the installation of LMS (Squeezebox Server). If you haven't already, I suggest you re-start the computer.

-LMS must be running before starting MediaMonkey

With the button turquoise (enabled) connection is instantaneous, there will only be a buffering delay while the song is loaded in LMS. Any Squeezebox devices should be directed to look at the music library on LMS, that is all. MonkeySqueeze will override any music playing on the Squeezebox system and take precedence, hence the enable/disable function when you do not want this to happen.

Keep me updated

I did a re-install. Also a software update of the SB Server to 7.6.2.

I disconnected radio. used only the squeezeplay. same behaviour.

you said: <<With the button turquoise (enabled) connection is instantaneous, there will only be a buffering delay while the song is loaded in LMS. >>
Are songs loaded in the SB Server one by one or as a stream?
Mediamonkey has no buffering delay. The song starts to play immediately and the SB system gets interrupted.
What should the the screen on the Radio show? And what in the webinterface of the SB Server?

@ Jos

Song details (address) are sent to the Squeezebox system when the previous track finishes, hence the buffering delay while it loads before play. There is no delay in MediaMonkey as it is the source. I might add that we are trying to rectify the buffering issue, however it has no influence on your issue.

SqueezePlay should give a similar display to your radio. Artist, track, album and artwork will be displayed, the web interface will display the same.

Try these:

-Change the HTTP port number that Squeezebox Server is using. The default is 9000 and you may have another device using the same port, which is causing conflicts. Follow the instructions in the user guide and change to 9002 for example. Changes must be made to the Server and MonkeySqueeze.

-Uninstall MonkeySqueeze V2 and download/install MonkeySqueeze V1.5 from the addons site (Under version history/details). This version uses different communications and has a simpler setup. Again if installed on Vista/Win7 make sure MediaMonkey is run in Administrator mode and for XP deselect "install for current user only".

Fast running out of ideas but keep me informed.

Best of luck

Hello,

MonkeySqueeze is not working for me???

I'am using the lastest version of MonkeySqueeze with MM 4.0.0.1442 (also tried 3.2.5.1306) connecting a Squeezbox Server (Version: 7.6.1 - r33110) running on a QNAP Nas.

In the MS Preferences I also tried various combinations get Monkey Squeeze running but nothing happens even though the button is enabled (green).
Image

My question now if it should working, what can I see in MM. Is there a Squeezebox enty node on the left or how can I choose the musik ?

Any suggestion or screens would be helpful.

Many thanks
